Welcome to VaPreps, PhoenixHS. Your list is as good as anything I have seen. Class 6 lacks debate compared to the other threads. SO, the more, merrier, right?
From your list, Battlefield @ #2. I know they've had a good, new Coach along with an old Coach return as an assitant AND they are having a good season. Do you feel they will be the the favorite for Reg B Title vs Freedom? I know the Eagles lost to Gar-Field and they looked pretty bad in that game. But they also played Stone Bridge well enough to have won that game. These schools would be the 5-6 range for me. BUT, I do expect them to be playing for that Regional Title.
I like Robinson, too. They may be better than last years team and their defense looks better. In Reg C, they would be my favorite this year. I don't see a game they should lose the rest of the way in the regular season. Of course South County will be challenging them. The question is whether Spalding can carry them past Robinson this year.
Manchester has similar pieces in place that they had when they won the 2018 Class 6 Title. But similar means almost as good. Key for the Lancers will be IF they get a huge piece of their OL back from injury in time for the playoffs. They are very similar to South County in that their scheme is tough to defend and they have talent to go deep in the playoffs. I expect them to be playing Smith for the Reg A Title game. Probably my #2-3 on your list.
Madison, too, might be a little under rated. IF there is a favorite to come out of Reg D, they would be it. Probably interchange Manchester in that 2-3 spot for me.
First of all, thanks a lot! In my neighborhood nobody really cares about HSFB, so it's great to find a community around it.
I ranked Freedom as low as I did mostly because of the game against Gar-field, as while Gar-field didn't do that fantastic either, it was a low-scoring affair for the eagles and they never looked to be in control of that game. I had Freedom #2 for most of the year, especially after the Stone Bridge game, and since #3, #4, and #5 are all going to be playing each other shortly, they'll probably make their way back up, even though their schedule to close out the regular season isn't the hardest. I think that the Region B championship will most likely be those two teams, but I wouldn't say that Battlefield is my favorite. Freedom has certainly shown that they have the higher ceiling, but it will depend on whether the team that lost to SB by 3 and beat Riverbend 41-7 shows up, or if it's the team that lost to Gar-field. Battlefield has had a few staunch defensive showings and have a couple interesting games coming up, including the one tonight against John Champe.
Robinson's offense has looked incredible over the season, including the 44-29 victory against West Springfield that I just now found out happened yesterday instead of today. I dropped them because of the bye, but they will almost certainly be #2 next week. Convincing wins against Chantilly and West Springfield prove that they are the current favorites to win Region C, and South County is probably the only team that can really challenge them.
My knowledge of teams is directly related to how close they are to my area, and since I live in NOVA my knowledge of Region A isn't that great, but here goes. While Highland Springs is probably top 10 in the state overall, the Lancers didn't look particularly great in that affair, They also don't have that strong of a schedule, as aside from Highland Springs their next best opponents would probably be James River, who hasn't had a win over a good opponent, and Midlothian, who, while undefeated, have had only a 1pt win over Monacan to credit them as a great team. Having not been able to see any of Manchester's games, I can only judge how good they look based on the scores, so by that logic for me, they haven't proven that their ceiling is high enough to be any higher.
The same is true about Madison, although their games down the stretch against Oakton, Centreville, Westfield, and Chantilly give them every opportunity to prove me wrong. I've ranked them lower in the standings due to Lake Braddock being their toughest opponent so far that matters (obviously Stone Bridge was, but them losing that game, even 20-0, makes no difference in terms of how good they are), but they have a tough Region D schedule ahead, and those games will make all the difference as to how they look coming into the playoffs.
