No Amherst again as a pick. It was because everyone would pick GW? Well that didn’t work out so good. It’s ok, just giving you a hard time. Well I pick Amherst again
I didn't say Amherst would lose last week, just that most everyone would have picked GW. (& would have been wrong too) This week Amherst plays Blacksburg, and I guarantee everyone would pick Amherst to win because Blacksburg is going to have another rough year it appears. (Lost 70-0 Friday to LB) Congratulations to your Lancers on the W! They'll be in the Pick em in a couple of weeks when they play JF.
Blacksburg, sadly is like Monacan and Prince George down my way. In fact, I’m pretty sure if Monacan and PG played it would end 0-0 after 10 overtimes.
I know from a knowledgeable Monacan fan that they have lost much of their feeder system in the last five years so they start nearly from scratch each year. And starting this year, they truly are young and very inexperienced.
PG, I just can’t explain it. They have a good feeder system and get a large number of kids to come out. As a Class 5 team, they should be dominant in the Central District. But, the only two teams that they have a winning record against in the Central District are Class 3 Colonial Heights and Petersburg. Why?

I beg to differ. They may win class 6. I’m shocked at the # of people picking Herm over TD. Herm got smashed by Hopewell a few weeks back.
I agree with Bo. Freedom is the real deal this year. Lots of talent all over the field. Could go real deep in the Class 6 playoffs.
It was a scrimmage! Don’t put much stock in that. TD is good but Hermitage has “similar” speed to HSHS with a RB committed to App St. I got it 50/50 with a Healthy TD a smidge edge. Could be a 14-13 game either way.
They don’t have the speed that HS has, not even close. Herm was much faster last year and you see how that ended. I agree Herm can be very good as they have some really talented athletes but that scrimmage was ugly, even though it was a scrimmage.
I said “similar”! Lol Trying to compare ANYONE’S speed to HSHS’s is ridiculous. They really are different this year. That said,the Hermitage RB is legit. I’m still not sure why he chose Appalachian State over UVA but it’s his decision. He was the region offensive player of the year last year. IMO this is a 50/50. The TD QB is excellent as well
I just don’t know with Louisa’s schedule it’s always hard to get real feel of what’s going on with them but I know it’s how Landon brooks and spellman go the team goes. I’ll be there IF there is a game.
Maybe he knows something we don’t about App State. Game will come down to coaching. I think Herm hands down has the better players but Dale will be more disciplined and better coached.
App has an outstanding program & culture. Not crazy to think he visited both and preferred Boone to Cville.
Playing time, fit/scheme, relationships with staff, position, etc all are more than likely reasons. Kids shouldn’t just take an offer based off of name/status, especially if you have options.
Whose bright idea was it for neighboring NOVA counties to both have the same HS name, mascot, colors, both playing in C6, opening around the same time?
You know, I’ve always wondered if other states have as many repeaters as Virginia. 2 Freedom’s, 3 Central’s, 3 Heritage’s, 2 G. Wythe’s, 2 James River’s, 2 Mountain View’s, 3 Patrick Henry’s. I’m probably forgetting someone.
Thanks bro. I knew the TD/Herm game wouldn’t be close. Varina may beat them by 35 next week. Freedom is the real deal too!
Freedom is going to be a challenge for any Class 6 team in the playoffs. Skill positions are stacked.
