Hey Mike, great job again and everything you do is appreciated. I will say, Highland Springs/Deep Run is probably the biggest game in this part of the state on Friday.
I saw that game and I thought that everyone would just pick HS and it wouldn't shake up the Picks too much. But since you mentioned it I've added that game.
I just need @OCBoy @Gunz41 and @540HSfootballFan to add that game in their picks. I'm sorry for the inconvenience guys. If you want to just post your pick for either Deep Run or Highland Springs as a reply below I'll fix it. Thanks guys.
@iDidntGetBanned I'd appreciate your input on games to use for the Pick em. I usually post on Saturday or Sunday, so just send me your ideas before that if you would like.

Understandable! Thanks Mike! This week I’m going to evaluate a little more before placing my picks lol.. I’m actually leaning towards Deep Run in an upset. I think HS will get Deep Run’s best shot with Deep Run being so senior heavy and their playoff hopes on the line. Probably will be a while before the Wildcats will be contenders again.
Whatever system you've been using is working. I've been getting my cat to make my picks, but that doesn't seem to be working. I think I need to get a dog.
I’ve been watching a lot of film and evaluating! Getting better and better at learning the game.
I took PG over TD. That's about the first time I've ever picked PG over anybody, especially the Knights.
This is the biggest game ever for Deep Run Football in their history. May be decades before they have a team this good again and if they lose, they’re pretty much done. Springs is the safest choice but Deep Run is fighting for everything and I expect a close game.
That slow first half last week makes me wonder too if the Springers are vunerable?
I’ve been wondering the same thing with the fumbling issues start start running back has had. They have had some early season chemistry issues,but I think since Coach Johnson finally decided on Naseir at quarterback full time over Dent. You could see Nassir’s confidence in the second half of the Glen Allen game once he was no longer looking over his shoulder(it doesn’t hurt that he has six wide receivers with power five offers). Once his confidence came through(and the RB stopped putting the ball on the ground),they were like an impossible machine to stop. I may be speaking in the moment, but I don’t know that I’ve seen a defense,with more talent,in my 40 years. I don’t know how or where are you attack that defense. I’ve never seen a secondary that every player has a power five offer, or has excepted a power five offer.
they are just high school kids,and anything is possible,but until somebody actually scores on that defense....vulnerable is not the word I would use! I said the overall team speed would be the difference when they play Glennallen,and I honestly think teams speed will be the big difference when they face Deep Run Friday night. I feel bad for Bo kite....having to face the Varina defense and then Highland Springs defense in back to back weeks.
I’d say Herm’s defense is just as good as Varina’s and Varina is damn good defensively. Herm shut everything Varina did down and Varina is not far behind Highland Springs in PPG. It sucks for Deep Run that they have Varina, HS, and Herm 3 weeks straight. The Springers should win this game (team speed, great defense and special teams will be the difference) but something is telling me that it’s gonna be closer than people are expecting. The playoffs have started 3 weeks early. HS/Deep Run, Henrico/Herm (Herm will be their Super Bowl game. Henrico is big and fast, just played a very good schedule and had way too many turnovers and mistakes. They are also dealing with a lot with the young man in serious condition; God bless him, his family and the Warrior community), and Varina/HS and Deep Run/Herm in the coming weeks. I was looking at the power points and everything is leading me to believe that the Class 5 State Champion will come from Henrico County this year. Can’t change my mind until they are all beat.
Well I was right about the Deep Run game lol.. I was pulling for the upset. Deep Run tragically lost their top playmaker this summer in an accident. I know they’re 5B but I’m happy to see they were able to give the Springers a scare.
A SCARE?! No....They outplayed & outcoached HS. Springers seem to think all they have to do is show up and it was obvious last night with the poor playcalling, and the lack of fundamental play. Four games into the season and they are still struggling with snapping the balls to the quarterback. They are still struggling with turning the ball over(4th qtr int in the end zone with no WR in sight). The talent on this team is unquestionable,but they were lucky AT BEST to get out of that game last night with a win. Good teams play good teams well....great teams play well against everyone! Success can be a hinderance. If the offense doesn’t get any more consistent than I have seen in the last two weeks, they may get shut out against Varina or hermitage. That vaunted D was driven on twice for TDs!
Herm’s been disrespected so bad. Loren Johnson is a legend and I have nothing but respect for the brother, but let’s not act like Dave Bedwell wasn’t doing this before hand. Anytime Bedwell and Anthony Nicely are on the sidelines together, their team has a chance.
You guys got in a dog fight... it happens. I certainly won't tell you how to feel about your own team though. You know them better than I do. I agree this team is nowhere near its celling or seemingly mid-season form given the talent on the roster. Your being a little hard on them, but I get it.
you have an entirely new starting five upfront on the offensive line, you are for games in,and the center is still having trouble getting the quarterback the ball! Maybe I am expecting more than the talent is actually showing but this level of talent, in mass, on one team, should be much further along than this! Decide on one quarterback!!! It’s hard to be a Read option offense if no one respects the quarterback running the ball because he’s too slow. I expected to see bug Jones playing some on the offensive side of the ball, but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen this year. I’m not the coach but I think that’s a mistake, the kid is a play maker! Maybe I am being too critical,but a team with this many players that will be playing at the next level, I expected far more! The team I have seen the last two weeks is not a state championship contender. Now,there is more room to improve, but I can promise anybody.... the team I saw last night and the first week against Glennallen is not going to beat anything out of the beach or Stonebridge!.
