GW will be very talented. Should be one of the fastest teams in Class 4. Lost a lot of size on the lines last year. They avg’ed 6’2.5 260 across the board. Willie Edmunds, IMO, is one of the best RBs in Virginia. He hasn’t been given the green light with Wesley Graves being the workhorse these past 3 years. Willie has about 5 D1 offers. Jeb Byrnes will take over at QB and scary enough, he’s a little faster and has a stronger arm than his brother, Hunter, who led GW to a 22-3 record back in 2013-2014 and was the 4A West Offensive Player of the Year in 2014 before playing at UVA and Davidson. Jeb, Dryus Hairston and the young man at Bassett are going to be real special and IMO the Piedmont will be one of the best districts as far as QB goes. GW also has Worm Poole and Shy Watlington who are both D1 recruits.

What happened to Shakobe Hairston from GW? Is he going back to receiver and Byrnes is going to play QB? Shakobe is a rising senior I thought?
Also as far as the Piedmont district, I think the top teams will be GW, Bassett, Halifax, and MV but not necessarily in that order. I feel like the Piedmont will be a tightly contested district this season. Top players from the district could be:

Elijah Stokes - BHS
Simeon Walker-Muse - BHS

JeB Byrnes - GW
Shy Watlington - GW
Tyler Johnson - MV

Morris from MV is hungry and ready to avenge an injury that kept him sidelined for the entire 2019 season. Preston is a hard worker and wants to prove neigh sayers wrong. Hairston(BHS) is a student of the game and is going to be on his A game every time he steps in the field. Stokes is an athlete that can play multiple positions and exploit matchups. Walker-Muse is very shifty but a hard runner. Hairston(GW) is an athlete with size and speed to match. Byrnes is a smart QB that sees the field well. Watlington is a very hard cover, he can beat a defense in many different ways. Johnson can change a game in 4.2 seconds, he is a speed demon. Hairston(MV) is a Deshaun Watson type of QB, he’s a playmaker. Poole is a man amongst boys, he’s a tone setter.
Shakobe will play WR. He’s got some of the best hands I’ve seen on the high school level. He’s also GW’s best option at Safety along with Donovan Howard. GW will be very very good defensively, lots of speed. If they improve on tackling, I believe they can play with Salem this year. Byrnes is going to be special at QB for GW. I’d also add Willie Edmunds to this list. Offers from 5 D1 schools and wasn’t even GW’s featured back. Him and Tyler Johnson are probably the fastest players in the Piedmont. I believe both Bassett and Magna Vista could win this district this year. Johnson IMO is solidifying himself as the best coach in the Piedmont. Joe is still the man, but Johnson is at his heels. Bassett going to be tough for years to come.
