There were 5 individual state champions. Poqouson had an incredible performance and dominated the competition.

Congrats to the Bull Islanders and best of luck in the future to our seniors. It was a stellar season. Also, congrats to our coaches who are solid and did a great job and our fans, of which nearly 300 were in attendance today in Salem.

Poqouson wins another school championship and are your 2017-18 state of VA 2A wrestling state champions!

With Grundy dropping to 1A Puqouson should run 2A wrestling for as long as they would like.

Grundy is a beast. I think they had 7 individual state champions yesterday. They dominated the competition and are one heck of a program. Size for size, they are a top 5 program nationally. 21 state titles in 1 sport is more than any other program in VA, boys or girls, from softball to football to my knowledge, and I don't think any sports program in Va has 21 state titles. Not even Hampton in football. Not even the old Granby in wrestling. Congrats to the Wave on their title as well.

Hampton has around 12-15 in football IIRC, nowhere close to Grundy's titles in wrestling .They are a machine up there.

I wonder why they don't have a better football program. With all those tough athletes, you figure they could win 7-8 games per year in the BDD with great line play alone.

Hampton has won 16-18 state titles in football and two national championships according to which source one goes by, the VHSL or Hampton High. Trust me, they are way, way beyond 12. Last I checked, the title win with Tyrod Taylor was number 18 in football according to Hampton High, and number 16 according to the VHSL. I don't know the details, but Hampton claims 2 additional titles that the VHSL doesnt. Either by forfeits or before 1921, or due to ties, etc. The folks and friends I have a few miles away in Hampton have always claimed 2 more.

That's why I said 12-15, and if they have 16, I was simply one off.

I need to check on Mason. They do have a ton of titles in soccer. Big winners, not to split hairs, but you were off by 1 at best.......and off by 6 at worst. Many in the area consider Hampton as 18 titles. They also have the banners of the two years of which they tied for it in the gym. There is a huge difference in 12 titles and 18 titles. I will check on Mason. I think they have 12 titles for both teams, boys and girls. Meaning, the girls have won 12, and the boys have also won 12, for a total of 24 state soccer titles for the school. That also......is just crazy dominance.

Okay? I said 12-15, they've won 16 per the VHSL. You're being incredibly pedantic

BigWinners, I've seen you on this board for over a year and you love to argue. That's all you do. It fuels you. It's your mantra. Each and every time I read a post of yours, you are in an argument with someone. I'm sure you do the same on that shi* board of yours over there in ole SWVA. By the way, let that shi*board board owner of yours know that I said that. P.S. Union lost.....get over it, and you lost with your best team in years, and you will not have a team like last fall for many, many years.

Let me again remind you toolshed, you ain't on your SWVA board anymore. Your in the Big Leagues and people fire back. Go bully somebody from Hurley or Rye Cove or something like that. Thats your level, so get back to that board and tell that board owner to not make any more comments about the local lawyers son, lmao.

Notice my intensity level? Not quite what your used to with those "intellectual" exchanges you have "putting" down those Thomas Walker fans. Go back to your hole.
