Game Recap Portsmouth Christian 38 Quantico 20

Portsmouth Christian struggled to find a rhythm in the 1st half on their game versus DIII Quantico but they road their star player to a 38-20 win. Coastal Carolina commit DaKendall James was easily the most explosive player on the field finishing with 11 receptions for 225 passing yards and two touchdowns. James had several spectacular highlight run and he was a threat to take it the distance every time he touched the ball.

James scored on a 43-yard touchdown with 1:48 to go in the 1st quarter but the Patriots fell behind 14-7 after two Quantico scores 80 seconds apart. Quarterback Matt Bianca finished a 60-yard drive with a 2-yard sweep around the right end. After a Patriot fumble, senior Michael Stuckey needed only two carries to bull his way into the endzone.

James provided the spark and started the Portsmouth Christian comeback with a great interception to stop a 3rd straight Quantico score. James then made a 27-yard fingertip catch while falling to the ground to set up a 2-yard run from Camden Gray. Quantico still led 14-13 at halftime.

Portsmouth Christian pulled away in the second half extending the lead to 31-14 with two minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. James turned a short hitch route into a 48 yard touchdown and he almost added a 3rd touchdown with a 41-yard reception before being tackled at the 4-yard line. Diondre Baker scored on the next play.

After Quantico cut the lead to 31-20 with 7:51 to go, James return the ensuing kickoff into Quantico territory and the Patriots needed only three plays to make it a three score game.

Portsmouth Christian linebacker Sean Connor was tackling machine and he had to have a dozen or more tackles. He seemed to be in on every tackle.

Michael Stuckey finished with 104 yards and two touchdowns for Quantico Tra Stuckey led the defense with several big hits and forcing a Patriot fumble with a strip and recovery.
