Post 280 Smith stays hot

Post 280 Smith started out the 2012 Virginia Junior American Legion State Tournament with 5-1 win over Post 217 Big Island (Lynchburg area).



Thomas Packert got the start on the mound, allowing 1 run over 4 solid innings, allowing just 2 hits & striking out 4. Nick Dingman & Brandon Mealey tossed the last 3 innings, allowing no runs on just 1 hit.



Packert helped his own cause at the plate with a 2-run double in a 4-run 3rd inning for Post 280 Smith. He finished the day 2-for-2 with a run scored, 3 RBIs & a stolen base. Tyler Ennis finished with an RBI-single & a stolen base, while Daniel Barnett contributed a hit, a run, 2 walks, and 3 stolen bases. Conner Smith also added a hit and a run scored in the victory.



Post 280 Smith will next take on the defending State Champions, Post 137 South Richmond, (Aug. 2nd) at 5:00pm.
