Since the first official VHSL stands based upon power points will not be posted until after week five has been completed, it would be much appreciated if you math wizards would post the top 5 or 10 teams in the Class 4 Regions.

Thank you. Can you do a few of the other top 10 teams across Class 4 across the state? I’m sure that have not lost will be within a point or less.

Like you said, it’s way too early to be meaningful, but curiosity fuels my request. Thanks again.

I will add some later today after I'm done running around with the family

Salem
Martinsburg 10+2=12
Franklin county 26+2=28
12+26+2+2=42
42÷2=21
Salem's current power points is 21 with a loss.

With three weeks in the books, I sure wish you math wizards would at least calculate the top 5 teams in each Region.

We could count on Devils in the old days for at least Region A.
What was the fellows name from up in Orange that used to be the numbers man? I remember that he was a preacher, and maybe a teacher in Orange? I hope he is still around and healthy. I recall that he was fighting a very serious health problem.

I know it’s early in the season for rankings because a win or a loss will move you all over the board. But that is part of what makes it fun this time of year. A team can go from the outhouse to the penthouse in one week.

So some of you guys with the knowledge and understanding of the power point system give us old guys a little help.

Thank you sir. Can we con you into calculating the other three Regions?

LOL, I’m still shocked when I see Louisa and Orange listed in Region D.

Yeah, that was him. I wonder what ever happened to him?
He is still around although not much involved in high school football as much as he was. He's been taking care of his mother who has been in bad health for pretty much the last year. He is also prepping to hike Appalachian Trail within the next year.

Excellent that his health is good. I’m really sorry to hear about his mother.
There are many, many of us on this forum that are dealing with, or have dealt with being a caregiver for a parent or loved one. If you’ve been there then you understand. My prayers for all of us in this boat.

Thanks Danny. Tell him we would love to have him join us as time permits.

Curious on how you got your numbers for Halifax, JF, and Orange.

Wonder what the points would like in the event that 2 win out an EV or KG have 1 loss since the play each other down the line
We will be splitting hairs by the end of this. A win or two less by a team you beat could mean the difference in two or three places in the seeding. Which is a little frustrating because you have no control over that.
But, I’ve not seen a better, more equitable system yet. So it is what it is.

A win at the end of the season for Class 4 is worth a minimum of 2.2 (assuming 10 games) and a maximum of 4.4. 2.2 is if you beat an 0-10 team of Class 4 or lower, 4.4 is if you beat a 9-1 class 6 team. A loss is worth minimum of 1.1 and a max of 2.4.
A win over a fellow Class 4 that is 9-1 would be 4.0. A loss would be 2.0. As seeding often come down to a couple of tenths of a point 2 whole points is significant.

Extremely well explained. Thank you.

Have you ever played one of those crazy “hunt club” poker games where a certain card up means you are out? “Baseball“ is one version. 3’s are wild if they are down, but get a 3 up and you are out! You could have a sure winner, and the sixth card be a 3. This is what it’s like sitting as an eighth seed. All you need is for one of the teams you beat to win, and then none do. And some team that has not won a game all year wins and gives the #9 seed just enough points to boot you out of 8th and the playoffs.
