Power Points Update

I must have missed the updated power point ratings....

Can someone post please if known? Also, if any math guys want to work on the possible playoff scenarios? Thanks.

Seedings and home field have even more major implications for this year's playoffs than in recent memory (imo).

RedPrideNation I know you have probably been working on this. Haha. Any insight?

I am slammed right now so I only have part of it. All these dang weather effected games are a PIA too. I am sorry I have failed but I will say it’s tightening up in A, everybody knows B, C is interesting from 3 on and D is a landslide with Chilhowie clearly the dominant team and favorite to be in Salem. The official points will be out tomorrow but it’s pretty much chalk.

Official Power Points

Rappahannock 21.6
Franklin 21.6
Northumberland 21.3
West Point 19.6
Essex 19.1
Northampton 18.7
Colonial Beach 18.4
W&L 15.0

If Rapp wins they should secure the #1. Depending on riders and of course the outcomes, the top four can shift around a good bit.

Two big questions for anyone in the know.
Is W&L taking a forfeit from CC? If so it helps all those teams that beat W&L...
If they are then by my math, the top 3 is basically set and could fall in any order. Rappahannock wins they are #1 with Franklin and Northumberland behind. Don't believe Franklin can finish worse than 2 unless they lose.

Second is whether or not KW is taking forfeits for those not playing them in the tidewater. Currently the vhsl doesn't have them in their points. It hurts KW to take those forfeits..... But it also hurts WP. Without those riders, WP can't finish better than 4 with a win this week. Those few extra points could put them up to 3 with an Essex win. Without those points an Essex win could drop them out of the top 4 even if they beat Clarke.

Teams with a shot at the #4 slot are obviously WP who sits there now, Essex with a win Friday night, and Northampton and CB still have a mathematical shot that isn't too far of a stretch but would need Essex and WP to lose and to win Friday and the rider/bonus points to stack in their favor.

One thing I conclude is that Region A is far and away the best 1A. There is a chance that 7 teams could have a rating over 20. The whole top 7 would make the playoffs in 2A region A based on their rating now.

If I'm not mistaken I think King William played Blue Ridge but the VHSL didn't give them any points for that game. Are they not recognized?

Didn't know they played but isn't blue ridge a boarding school? If so then the VHSL doesn't count them

hmmm....a few weeks ago I hinted at who imo may be the final two Region A teams....power points and seedings may work out just right.

I see Essex and Northumberland in the title game...at Northumberland.

I am sure many will disagree and that is all good.

Of course, a lot of really good teams in the Region A tourney and anyone can win....gotta get in done and take it one game at a time with excellent practice schedules.

You also predicted the Indians would blow out Rapp soooo.......

On another note, if Rapp beats Essex, NHS and Essex cant meet in the Region A Final

I did predict Northumberland would go 10-0 a few weeks ago - I originally in preseason had said 8-2 at worst and probably 9-1 (then Essex was defeated).

So I did miss the Rapp loss (never said a blow out just a win). I doubt I miss it the 2nd time (if it is played).

As for the second part, we shall see.
