Powhatan To The Dominion In 2019?

Looks as though Powhatan might be returning to the Dominion District where they played from 1980-1985.

In the latest District Alignment plan posted to the VHSL for 2019-2020 thru 2022-23 they show Powhatan playing in Class 4 but now in the Dominion which would make that district ten teams strong.

Why would they have 10 teams in the district... so you only get 1 non district game?
They should put Powhatan in the central or the capital district that has 8 teams why load an already bloated district.

Maybe time to just make the richmond city district and pull Armstrong, Hug, GW, Kennedy, JM and TJ in their own district... throw in Petersburg and Hopewell so all the 3a’s are together... maybe leave Huguenot in the dominion bc they are a 4a. It doesn’t matter about the other sports anymore... most of the time the city schools are good at basketball, they aren’t very good generally at soccer or baseball so they would all be playing each other... track is more of an individual sport anyways so it doesn’t matter.

If they are going to send another team into the Dominion make it Meadowbrook. Not sure why they are in the central anyways.

It makes absolutely no sense geographically to put Powhatan in the Capital District. If anything I would say you send someone like Bird to the Central but we know that would never happen. Maybe move Wythe or Huguenot to the Colonial with TJ and John Marshall or to the Capital with Armstrong.

I would ha e said Powhatan to the colonial but I thought they already have 9 teams. With 288 Powhatan is very close to DF / JRT. I would agree they are closer to Cosby and Midlo but it is not undoable... my god they are in the same district with Charlottesville now

James River to the Colonial and then Powhatan would make more sense than Powhatan to the Colonial.

In fact when CentralRegionTom and I used to play around with alignments in the old days, I formed a district with James River and the west end schools.

LOL!!! What part is not going to happen again? All the smaller city and surrounding schools in one district? 10 teams in a district is just craziness to me. I guess it is what it is though.

10 teams in a district is common in VB & northern VA. I’ve seen 11 actually! FB scheduling gets REALLY simple in that scenario!
