Lamar Quarles, better known to most of you here at Preps as "HoosFan05" passed away over the weekend following a battle with cancer. Lamar was 33 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer less than 2 months ago. Though he was a polarizing figure on this board, he was a relentless worker during his time with Charlottesville City Schools, the type of person that would help anyone in need at any time. Rest Up Lamar! Gone too soon!

so sad. He is one of the people I got to meet on here from Va. Preps. He was so nice. I met him twice and I'm so glad I did. He came to Amherst a couple of times when Louisa played here. Prayers

This one hurts man. Saw this earlier and I am still at a loss for words. Lamar and I were really good friends. He’d text me at least once or twice a week to let me know who VCU was recruiting, updates on former players and just to check in. As Coach stated, Lamar would give you the shirt off his back. He took care of his mother for years as she battled cancer and after she passed away, he took great care of his father. Lamar and I went to a many VCU basketball games together and he welcomed me to many Louisa football and basketball games. I believe we caught around 8 games this past season in total. We’d always talk about if GW met Louisa in football. We got that opportunity in 2019 as his Lions played my Eagles in the boys basketball state championship. I still have our picture we took after the game. Thanks for the memories HoosFan! I’m fortunate to be able to call him a friend.

The man knew how to ruffle some feathers on here, but you would never know it meeting him in person. Lamar was kind, hard-working, extremely patient and just an awesome guy to talk to, be around, and know. Every school needs a guy that supports them as much as Lamar supported Louisa County High, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the VCU
Rams. I am going to miss him.

We beat Louisa twice my senior year in basketball and I will never forget the feeling of being able to hold it over his head, and when push came to shove he was always extremely humble and kind about the things that really matter.,

I met him in 2014 at the state championship game. I remember messaging with him later on about taking Vitamin D to try and help his mom and myself with our health conditions. He seemed like a genuinely good person.

I'm soooooooooo sorry to hear this news. He was passionate. He would stand his ground.
Here we go again ladies and gents...life is too short to hold grudges, to be angry or to be ugly. Just be nice. Enjoy the day and live it like it's your last. I've been guilty of all of the above...we all have. Perspective is something else.

Rest in peace Lamar...man...my oldest son is almost your age...I just can't imagine....
