Who are your pre season favorite in each region boys and girls ?

Surry girls ( Riverheads contenders )

WEST

GW girls ( Honaker and PM contenders)

Mathews boys should be tough...

On paper Riverheads boys should have its best team in years. They went to the state quarters last year where they almost knocked off eventual state champion Surry in its own back yard. Not as sure about our girls.

Just a few off the top of my head for the boys. I'm sure I've missed some, but it's 5am and I'm not fully functioning yet. Lol

Region A- Lancaster, Colonial Beach, Mathews, W&L

Region B - Riverheads, Surry

Region C- Auburn, George Wythe, Bland,

Region D- Grundy, Eastside,

Why Mathews? I didn't know they were going to be that good. Did Rapp return anyone off the state tournament team?

Mathews returning most of their team from last year. Played well at times last year. Young kids are a year older and experienced. They should be pretty good.

Even on their down years, they are still usually competitive. I'm not saying they are a state championship contender, but I'm sure they will be in the mix for Region C. I look for Auburn to win that region, as they return just about everyone from last year

I know Rapp returns Butler, their big man down low. I'm not too sure on who else. I know they lost their best player, Savion Epps to graduation.
