Previewing the RVa area 2018 high school cross country season
Class 3:
Boys
Colonial Heights: Junior Nate Jennings finished seventh in the region last season. Sean Doughty is the other returnee on a small squad.
Hopewell: The Blue Devils will rely on sophomores Grant English and Shaun Gates, and several juniors, including Christian Cowden and Boonsong Praxton.
New Kent: New Kent won the region title last year and has designs on repeating. Junior Patrick Johnson finished third in the region, senior Gabriel Bollhurst finished eighth and junior Evan Lipscomb finished 16th.
Thomas Jefferson: The Vikings are small in number but should get good seasons from Leigh Salvucci, Mamadou Ba and freshman Tony Carmucci.

Girls:
Hopewell: The Blue Devils return six runners and are heavy on juniors: Jacqueline Poitras, Bianca Bonilla, Jaylah Bolling and Montaye Adams. Alivia Pearson and Savannah Epps are seniors.
