Highland Springs defeated Booker T Washington 61-53 and for the most part they relied on their starting five to get the win. The Springers put four starters in double-figures with Kirvel Alexander winning Player of the Game honors by scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Alexander is the Springers "big man" at 6-foot-3. Super quick point guard Na'quon Trapp (5-foot-9) was the catalyst for the Springers offense and he had 5 assists compared to only one turnover. His in-your-face pressure defense resulted in four steals and he added four rebounds. He also made 5 of 6 free throws in the second half while playing keep away. His size will limit his college choices but he could find a fit in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).

Senior A.J Gaston is receiving some D3 interest and he led the Springers with 14 points. Junior Mike'L Simms is a 3-year starter and although he had a poor shooting night (2 of 10) he was able to contribute in other phases of the game. He was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line while adding four offensive rebounds. Simms added two steals, a block, four assists and five total rebounds.

Booker T. Wahsington had a huge advantage inside with 300 pound sophomore Breyon Gaddy and 6-foot-7 Ezekiel Ingram. Gaddy, a star football player, was a load inside grabbing nine offensive rebounds while posting 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ingram is a good defender and he finished with nine rebounds, three blocks and six points. Sophomore Jeremiah Jenkins had trouble finding his range in the spacious college gym shooting 1 of 7 from 3-point land.
