Qwuamel Broward played a limited role with the Phoebus Phantoms last year as a junior and his transfer to Menchville High School will certainly presents more opportunities to see the football field. Broward has been making a name for himself while attending football camps and he was personally recognized by Pittsburgh Steeler head coach Mike Tomlin at the HRYF NFL Camp.

"I’ve been attending the (NFL) camp for quite a while and every time I go I always try to get noticed and make a name for myself," he said. "I guess (Tomlin) remembered me and that means a lot."

Menchville quarterback K.J. Sarvis also made a big splash at the HRYF NFL camp earning recognition as one of the top quarterbacks. Broward says he and K.J have been working out to gain chemistry before the season starts.

"That’s my guy me," Broward said. "We developed a quarterback\receiver relationship that’s like my little brother on and off the field. We workout every other morning with (Bruton assistant) Coach Free. K.J can easily be one of the best quarterbacks in the Peninsula District. He's only a junior so he has time too progress as a quarterback and he’ll definitely be something too watch out for this season."

Broward has a Menchville connection in former Monarch Clifton (Doodie) Richardson who is Broward's cousin. Richardson played football for the University of Virginia before transferring to Liberty University. Broward has been to several recruiting camps and he has been working out at both receiver and defensive back. He says he has received some interest.

"I’ve heard from Morgan State University and Martime University in SUNY New York. I went to the Florida Atlantic University camp on the 17th of June and I think I did pretty good. I attended a camp at Chowan University and I’m going to the Old Dominion camp. Hopefully, I'll have my first offer by the end of the season."
