Proving a lot of people wrong

That team was under rated and sized. But they played with heart! They played for each other and not for individual spot light exposure. The were well coached and coach able young men! A lot of people thought it was going to be the end of the road when they had to travel to the 757 and take on Phoebus, but as always they played as a team and with heart and came out with that dub...
Playing with heart is what this current MV team needs to get back to playing with!

I tip my hat to that Magna Vista squad. That was a very good team. When Phoebus moved down to 3A, I too thought it was going to be a cake walk. Boy was I so wrong. There are some very good teams in 3A. However, I will say this also, you guys (as well as Blacksburg) have never played those great Phoebus teams of Bill Dee's era. So when you hear the name Phoebus it makes it seems like beating us is doing the unthinkable. Not anymore. This year's team may be, in fact, are better than the past 3 years but it's not the Phoebus of old by a long shot. I do like this 2017 squad and how hard they compete even tho they've been undersized against every team they've faced. There are no egos on this team like in recent years. Coach Blunt have those kids bought into PLAYING TOGETHER as a TEAM!

As an observer, I totally agree...Dee's last team w/Tajh Boyd would completely embarrass this year's version. That's not a knock on the current young men and staff...Dee's teams were simply on another level.
