I’m looking at the school on Google earth. I only see a field that has no bleachers. I assume that is a practice field. It’s about 400 yards to the southwest of the school. The image is dated 5-21.
Look at the schools parking lot. Then look down and to the left. You'll see a baseball diamond, there are a set of bleachers sitting against the trees in what would be the outfield. Thats the football field.
Yes. From what I recall we, as the visitors, had our bleachers in the dirt infield. I will say, that night was probably the most busy evening, and most successful business-wise Montross, Virginia had seen in a long, long time.
Well, just in case you were considering coming to see the Northumberland at W&L game (and check out Cameron Seldon) it was just cancelled by W&L.
Evidently, someone on W&L tested positive for Covid.
All this Covid craziness is so frustrating for the fans. I am sure that the coaches and players are beyond frustrated. How do you stay keen and focused?

W&L has been playing on that field for 50-plus years. In fact, I believe they are the only NND team that continues to play on its original field. Colonial Beach may also be in that category, but I believe they originally played somewhere other than Monroe Park
Do you recall the Gilliam Ratings message board in which "Facilities Inspector" ranked W&L restrooms at their football field as the absolute worst? He wrote that he bet the superintendent of schools there wouldn't let his wife use them!! About 2-3 years later, they had a new concession stand-restroom facility.

What’s the field name in Orange? I think Gilliam was from Orange, but those restrooms were deemed just about as bad.
Wonder whatever happened to him? I know he had a serious health scare way back then. I hope and pray he recovered ok.
I thought briefly Cavs1, about going to that game, for exactly the reason you stated. But, it’s just a tad too far to travel that late at night. But, the decision was made for me.
Yes, we have all endured a lot over the last 20 months. But, my heart breaks the most for the kids that have had their lives so disrupted. Let’s all say a prayer that it improves from this point on.
I'll say this about Matt's site, after midseason it was uncanny in how it would accurately predict winners. I miss that site!
