Radford vs fc Thoughts?

The only reason I am even posting on this BLOWOUT of a game is because I have spoke with about 5 fc players and they are all saying Radford stands no chance. Now don't get me wrong I have no problem with confidence or believing in your team but come on now. I actually had 2 of there players tell me that they have been holding back and the coach told them not to show everything they have until the playoffs. They also said that they are thinking about sending Radford flowers to say they are sorry for having to beat them so bad and sorry for having to hurt Finley and Grant. That is when I got mad and flat out told them that they stand no chance and Radford would be up by 50-60 points at the half. You never set out to hurt any other player no matter how mad you are that you have a great chance at going 0-10 this season. Now this wouldn't be so bad if it came from jv players or kids that will see no play time but it didn't this came from starters! It's sad and pathetic if you don't want to get embarrassed step up and play try making the other team earn it and not just getting mad and rolling over. Like they did after they saw GW wasn't going to do the same when they got up on us with pure luck nothing else this fc team has one of the worst attitudes I have ever seen. They seriously act like they are owed something just because the play football. I don't care who gets mad over this I hope they get beat by 60 points every week they don't deserve to win with that type of attitude and saying you're going to try and hurt other teams players. Now I don't think this sorry fc team could hurt them anyway but it is the intent of it that is wrong on so many levels. As much as I hate to admit it I have family who plays for fc and he is one of the kids who is saying that Grant and Finley wont last the 1st Q and wont score on them cause the will be stretchered out. The ever more sad part is he is only 1 of 5 saying it so with all of that said I can only hope Finley and Grant each have 500yds rushing and score every time the touch the ball. I'm not going to try and start crap for no reason especially over a sorry fc team that my GW team has already embarrassed with ease. And if you would slow down and read you would see that I didn't say the whole team I said a very few kids are saying this BS even one of my family member's. Not all of the kids who play for fc act like this but a few most certainly do. I had one of your own tell me that one of your kids got so mad last Friday that he just walked off the field now I don't know if this is true but it came from one of your own. Again I don't care what you think or believe or how mad you get I'm not going to set back and not say anything when some of these kids have this type of attitude. Take you beating like a group of men like GW did when this same RADFORD team came to GW and smacked us in the mouth. Open your eyes and realize that every team has a few bad kids in the bunch it just so happens that fc starts there few bad kids.

Unfortunately guru, blaster is not making that up. I have some kids on that team that i coached back in the day and seen them around town and told me that they where straight going to smack Radford in the mouth. Now i cannot say they said something about hurting other players but some of these kids have bad attitudes and it is based mainly on the fact that they have just been dismantled their first two games. These kids have got to learn that good talent only lasts so long and that success can sometimes be short lived. Look at how many years GW was dominant against Fort Chiswell and all it took was for FC to get some very talented kids that stuck to their roots that their family built up there and stuck out the mediocre seasons and made something happen. Their road in the playoffs a few years ago was a little more hellish than GW's state run in 2012 but that team stuck it to their opponents with no bad attitudes. Losing does crazy things to you. These kids just need to learn to love the game for what it is and not expect a state championship every year they play. Losing is learning. Coach it.

Very well said GDUBALUM09 I don't think it's that these kids are bad kids in every day life they just have no clue how to take a loss like a group of men. And like I said in my post I don't care how much crap a group of kids talk that's going to happen but it is never ok to say you are going to try and hurt kids from the team you are going to play. That is what set me off I heard more than one kid from fc say that Grant and Finley both will not make it out of the 1st Q and will be carted off the field. Sad but true and MT FAN 91 yes they will very big this game will probably be over by the end of the 1st Q.

Cherish the moments you have on the field because great things can happen after you get hurt and the possibility of being out for the year. I just hope the said Fort players dont try some childish stunt like those kids down in San Antonio. Would hate to have another Ingo situation in this area again. Like Pruitt, Gardner, B and Russell, Ingo could have done a lot more for the team and school. Hope Harner continues the rich success that GW has always had. Think back to some of the great years GW has had. 2002 with Barclif, Throckmorton, Suthers boys and Irvin. 2007 with McCoy, Smith, White, Sharitz and Yonce. 2012 with Snavely, Willis, Hollywood and Pressley. These kids this year can make things happen just have to get better. Dylan Anderson is probably the best lineman since 2007 lineup with Lester, Akers, Herring, Dennis Sharitz and Monohan. Deacon can easily break all of Jacob Sharitz records with the rest of this year, junior year and senior year. Rashad Wells reminds me of Jonathan Turpin. The talent is there they just have to learn to use it when the time matters. Galax and Honaker wont lay down and that would be the perfect time to show SWVA who rules football in the area.

I completely agree I played on that 2007 team and 2008 team and we had a great deal of pride and these kids at GW right now have so much talent they just need to come together and they will be very hard to stop. GW has always had insane amounts of talent it just seems to get lost at some point in the season. And its like you said fc took beatings for years to almost every team they played then they came around and had a few good years now its time for another down turn for them and these kids just cant realize that they don't have the talent of past teams. So it seems that they are going to try and play dirty or not at all and its really sad again don't get me wrong as a player I would never except defeat. And not one person I played with would either but if we played a team that had our number we would play our hearts out until they proved that they had our number. We would never roll over and die and we would never try and hurt another teams players. If you beat us it was because you played a better game that night no other reason but only time will tell if they play like men or act like children. I hope they don't pull any crap like the kids in TX but if they do then they will get whats coming to them.

Fort, No one is asking them to claim that they will lose but keep the respect for the game and not say someone will get hurt by a certain point in the game. Talk or not it is disrespectful to the sport that millions of people love and enjoy and i for one enjoy high school football more than i do the NFL or College. The pride and tradition that high schools have is what makes it enjoyful for people. If any of you that reply on this post remember Mrs. Irvin and her bull horn at the GW games even after Jesse and Ben graduated you knew she was there for the pride and tradition and she enjoyed giving the same pride to players after her own were gone and graduated. I transferred to GW and played for two district championship teams and a region championship team and when i got there the passion for playing RR and FC was overwhelming and some of the talk that i heard was staggering but i never grew into having that same kind of "hate" for either school. I was there for the game and the tradition that i had to learn and never one time put FC or RR down for who they are or the games they won or lost. Not one time did the team or myself say anything about hurting specific players. We let our play speak for itself. These kids need to do the same thing and let their play negate some of the thoughts of people on here or in the town. Let their play surprise everyone.

Blaster, 2008 team. Floyd week 3 40-39 in overtime with a BS fake extra point for a pass. Floyd first round of playoffs 2 point conversion where the kids foot was clearly out of bounds, Not to mention the interception Turpin had and when they tackled him and they come up with the ball after the play was whistled dead. 2008 team was probably one of the best teams GW has had in the past 10 years hands down.

I didn't have a problem with it until they started saying they are going to try and hurt Grant and Finley and send them out by the end of the 1st Q. And GDUB yes we were one of the best teams to come through GW regardless of our record and yes I do agree both Floyd games ended in BS calls. They came out on top for whatever reasons but we cant change the past we can only let it makes us better and learn from it which is what I wish these kids would do today but instead they want to act like someone owes them something because they wear a football uniform. The identity of the kids is not the point here. The point is they said it and unfortunately one of them was a kid i coached a while back in little league and like i told him you dont target players to get your point across you out play them on the field to get your pint across and help your TEAM get the win. He told me he didnt understand why every one had already wrote them down for a loss and like i explained to him it is the way the game goes. Was people not writing off New England last year in the Superbowl when Lynch drove it down their throats then Carroll called the pass play? This is the fun in the game and predicting winners and losers. Hurting people purposely will not win games. Some people take this to the extreme. Honestly think about it. How many people on here said Bland was going to start the season off 2-0. Not me. Was it surprising they beat RR. Yes it was. Was it surprising RR beat FC. Yes. I personally thought FC was little more talented than what they are showing. I root for FC when they are not playing GW. But for players to say what they did to me is a little out of the way than i was taught and bet most of you on here that played football was taught. Nobody is picking on FC but when you blow a 14 point lead and get 60 point hung up on you then you play a team the next week that hung 50 points on that team talk around town will be you will lose. If you think what the players had to say was right then more power to you. If you have kids that play sports and you want to teach them that hurting another teams players is correct then do so but dont come on here supporting that. Find another forum for people that still like talking about Marcus Vick stomping on Elvis Dummervills leg. Go there and tell them that you enjoy teaching young athletes that hurting people is the name of the game now.

I don't know if I have ever seen as many kids out (injured)at one school than fort has. Sometimes that happens. I have seen a ton of teams play through the years to. 6 starters have or still missing time on offense, 4 or 5 on defense. Than that going into the year 19-20 players starting their first time at their position against rural retreat. That is called growing pains. Not to mention about 6 players playing at other schools. Growing pains.

I've noticed that Wythe County has an injury and an "injury" problem. There are players who just have weakness, but then it seems that in big matchups sometimes in all WC school phantom injuries strike. Not just in football, but I've seen it in basketball, baseball, soccer, and even track. Yet those in question are perfectly fine the following day, hour, minute, or during the game. Again no specific players but they have this desire to look good first and foremost (not be good), and if they can't they'd rather not play.

After what I've seen out of both of these team Radford can hang 60 or more easy on fc. GW couldn't do anything to stop Finley or Grant and fc couldn't do anything to stop us. GW only had 2 slip ups a dropped snap on the first punt and a double pass. They got up 14-0 and after that it was bar the doors something like 50pts unanswered then they got 1 on our jv. I remember why I stay off of here. It absolutely amazes me the BS that will come out about kids. Knowing each of these kids personally, I call Bull Crap! I've seen the majority of these kids off and on all week. That has not been there outlook or attitude all season, even before the injuries. This is a humble group of kids, who love the game, and of course love to hit someone. All kids talk crap, I'm not stupid, but I don't believe a word of original post. Then you make a comment about not wanting to tarnish their reps by putting names out there. Are you serious? But you will post junk like this, followed by how bad their attitudes are? Is that not a sad attempt to blast a team of kids and their reps? Grow up! Did we win last night, no. But they played a surprisingly good game, and fought harder than anyone expected until they just lost their wind and momentum. Not taking anything away from Radford. They have a team that is going to go far this year. But you have to admit (if you're as honest as you say, and yes I am smirking) FC went in to battle last night like no one could have predicted. As far as injuries, go spend some time with these kids and you will find out that most are not phantom injuries. Kinda hard to fake those casts, MRI's, CT scans, surgeries, and doctor reports. But think what you want, it's all good. We love people like you on our end of the county. Gives us something to work towards, proving you wrong. But stick to football conversations and leave lying on the kids out of it.

But when you want to say I'm making this up because the kids in fc haven't said anything around you or other people in fc I'm going to speak my part. It's not my fault that they can't keep up with the teams they have played so far I really doubt it has anything to do with kids being hurt but any excuse is better than none. This is not the team you had a few years ago and it never will be. If they prove me wrong I will be happy to eat my crow as I always have when I've been wrong. Contrary to popular belief i myself and Blaster are two separate people. If you look way up on this thread i have praised Forts success in previous years. No one is blasting these kids ability to win but the attitude that they have shown myself and Blaster when bad mouthing another team claiming they will hurt their players. Regardless of how many players are hurt on their team it is still no reason to claim to hurt another player to prove a point. This will obviously be a down year for Fort and hopefully all of their hurt players will make a full recovery. Fort fans have love for their team just like GW fans have love for theirs. If it is now a crime to make predictions based on previous play of your team please let me know and i will no longer guess Forts games on Weekly Pick Em and simply leave their game blank. Also if it is illegal please get ahold of CBS sports, Fox Sports, ESPN, NFL Netwok etc. and let them know that they should not predict any more games due to a teams ability to win games. I guess because someone posted what a few of Forts players truly had to say now you take that personally and have become butt hurt because what fans of the game predicted ended up being true. Take you back a few years to GW state run, they go out to Franklin and play the Broncos "#1" offense and would not even come close to beating Franklin. A ton of you on here said that and look what GW done. They went out there, dominated and won the game. Guess what, it is part of the game. Stop taking your teams problems personal. The players said what they had to say. About 90% said Fort would lose and they did. It is a new week. Like i said before hopefully all players hurt over at Fort will make a full recovery and they cam get back to the game they love. Let them play and we as spectators will continue to converse about the game.
