Guess we are looking at a smashmouth grinding it out game tonight! Good luck to all.

I would not call Clanton exactly big but he is fast. Good luck tonight. Hope you guys run the table.

I have been on the go all morning and have heard nothing official. So do you guys know for sure that the game is on (as of now-2:00) or are you just assuming that it is?

I realize this game is at Riverheads, but the muddiest game I ever saw was at Central. Back in the 90s, either Luray or Page was playing there. After the game ended, the celebration involved running and taking flying dives through the huge mud puddle that was the midfield area.

Wet fields always helps the lesser of two teams, it brings the two teams closer together. This matchup is a coin flip so I don’t think it helps one or the other. Both got to play on same field and I don’t think central is any faster than Riverheads. We got some pretty good speed also.

I never mentoned Clanton....we have 3 very strong big boys in Watson, Williams and Mullins that can pound the ball. Clanton is just another weapon in our Arsenal.

It is now closer to 3:00 and my sources say we are playing. I assume they would not make a decision this late in the day to cancel, considering Central's travel distance.

It has always been my understanding that the players simply LOVE playing in the mud. But I will also add that I have seen games played in worse weather than this and sometimes you are surprised at how little impact it really has on the quality of play.

Call me a whimp but I would want the best conditions possible to allow me good footing so I could play at my best.

You would think so but I guess the way to look at it is that they both have to play in the same conditions. However I once heard that rain favors a passing team because the receivers know where they are going whereas the defenders have to react. We will know in a few hours.....

Actually I have not heard of any other postponements here in the Valley so I guess the ones who did not move their games up to last night are still playing tonight. It is not just this game apparently.

Should be good one anyway I think this is two of best teams in 2a and 1a and both have a chance to be in Salem

I always loved playing in the mud. I remember a pickup game in college way back when with the guys in my dorm. No pads, tackle, and we were filthier than pigs! IT. WAS. AWESOME!!!

They have dang good running backs in Rutherford and Baylor. They are strong. More importantly, those dudes play hard. Very few play both ways and they are young. Definitely not as talented along the line as last year but I think they will do better in post season this year than last.

Where is Clarke at this year? I keep reading about them replacing lineman and not quite as good so what’s the scoop?
Clarke had to replace 7 starters up front from TE/TE. 2 of those got full rides at the next level. All of their skill kids returned from last year. I think currently only 2 or 3 kids play both ways. Maybe 4 seniors see field time at some capacity. They are very young at all positions and had some growing pains early with all the new linemen etc. Been enjoyable watching them grow up as the season has progressed. They could be pretty tough again next year. Congrats to Riverheads on the win last night.
