The closest thing I've seen to any rankings for girls basketball is Max Preps. They usually have some mistakes, but they aren't as bad as some say. I do like how they show each teams strength of schedule. I don't keep up with the girls side, like I do the boys, but Region A doesn't look very strong this year. Surry should be the favorite in Region B and more than likely will be in the state championship from the A/B side of the bracket. I did see that George Wythe and Galax play a tiebreaker for their district championship either tomorrow or Saturday. Patrick Henry from what I've read has a solid team and of course, Honaker as you already mentioned. There might be a few more that I'm missing, but like I said earlier, I don't follow the girls action as much
Honaker High School girls is one of the most dominate teams in Class 1 A this year. It is a Junior laden team lead by Jr forward Leanne McNulty who is one of the best high school girls basketball players I have seen in a while and about to be Honaker's all time leading scorer as she reached the 1,000 point mark as a soph... She has a beautiful outside shot and can get to the basket at will. She is most impressive in the post. Honaker also has tons of three point shooters including junior guard Kyla Boyd who hit the 1,000 point mark last week in a 70-60 win over district rivals Grundy.
