Region 1B
Buffalo Gap girls basketball will begin its quest for a fourth-straight state tournament appearance Monday night when it hosts Altavista (6-17) in the Region 1B quarterfinals.The Bison (17-4) are the top seed in the region, meaning it will host through the championship. Gap reached the state semifinals a year ago before losing by a point.
The team they lost to last year — Brunswick — is the second seed in the region. The Bulldogs will face Appomattox Regional Governor's School in the regional quarterfinals. The other matchups will be No. 6 Franklin at No. 3 Rappahannock County and No. 5 William Campbell at No. 4 Cumberland.
On the boys side in Region 1B, the Buffalo Gap (5-14) boys are the sixth seed. They will travel to No. 3 Franklin (12-11) Monday.
Cumberland is the top seed in the region and will host No. 8 William Campbell.
No. 2 Brunswick will host No. 7. Sussex County, while No. 5 Rappahannock County will travel to No. 4 Altavista.
