Don't forget the Powhatan vs. Huguenot game is essentially a play-in game. Powhatan could go as high as #7 with a win.

This would be neat if the seeds held. Monacan vs Dinwiddie and Louisa vs EV would be between area rivals with the region championship being played between two teams of the different areas within the region instead of between two neighbors. Sort of like we used to have when district champs automatically squared off.

Powhatan's season has been a dogfight each and every week. They have a 4-5 record with a young roster. New offense under a new coaching staff playing against new opponents. Lots of change but the players look like they are battling out there. Powhatan is tough and could very easily be a 6-3 or 7-2 team right now. They lost a tough opening game against Matoaca, and had a last second loss on the road at 6A Cosby. Monacan and Manchester were the only games I witnessed as Powhatan being outmatched talent wise. All the other games they had a fighting chance. They have a lot of young talent.

@VirginiaGreat08 thank you. I posted last year how Powhatan was moving to the Dominion at the right time, gave the reasons why, and nearly got laughed off the board by ignorance. If you go by that thread, Powhatan should be getting blown out every week this year. You have pointed out every reason why they will be a player in the district every year. The toughness they show every year is just one good reason alone. I look forward to seeing how they do when those young athletes are more mature. Thanks again!

I like it too. IF louisa could beat EV and Dinwiddie finds a way to beat Monacan then the rematch from 2 yrs ago I guess would be at louisa and if it was half the game as the first one ppl would be in for a treat.

EV/Dinwiddie/Louisa have all had great games with each other the last couple of years.

Well Hunter threw 2 TD passes tonight, but one was a screen that went 80 yards, and Albemarle is not good at all. I think we'll be more of an option team going forward, but if Morgan is done for the season, that hurts our chances a lot next week. I love his old school style of running, and it would be perfect for next week. We haven't run much single wing lately.

Thanks. One thing we have going for us is we have remained relatively healthy and that has enabled us to close the gap on some teams. Given what happened to Monacan this week and EV last week, I kinda like our chances against anyone in 4B...except Louisa!

FWIW, Spotsylvania laid a massive egg tonight. They looked uninspired, couldn't convert a couple of key early fourth downs, had a costly fumble, and weren't excited for a team that had a chance to win a share of a district title.

King George looked good and was able to toy with Spotsylvania for much of the game. Receivers were wide open at times and they looked like they had some athletes that could play. They were hungry for a playoff spot and they had the energy and emotion for the entire game.

Very disappointed in my alma mater tonight. Would have loved for them to play well, have a home game with an opportunity to win that and play at Louisa County. This would have been really good for our neighboring communities if we were to have a first round home game and win that. Now, we wait to see if we are in the 4/5 game and have to go on the road for an extremely tough challenge. At least at home, others in the community might come out and cheer our guys on and that might help us even a little.

I would say Huguenot is better for us given that we have played them and beat them already this season. However Huguenot is a solid team that has underperformed at times. If they play well they are a tough squad. After all they had Clover Hill dead in the water... who just beat us handily. Dinwiddie scores at a very high clip. Either you are actually elite offensively or their were some very bad defensive football teams on that schedule. You almost had Hopewell and you SHOULD have had Dale. Prince George and Matoaca were 50-50 games and you won one of them. Your a tough team I'll give you that... which will take you a long way this time of year. Dinwiddie could easily make a run if you can just get more from your defense.

I honestly have no idea what is going to happen in these games except for Louisa vs KG. I take Louisa handily. The rest are going to be really interesting

KG will definitely show up and perform better than most will think. Louisa better not sleep on them or it will be an early exit!

I agree. When you can hold Colbert to 34 yards and team total under 100, you better be looking out. Don’t forget this 6-4 KG is 2 points from 8-2. This isn’t gonna be easy.

I don't know if it will be handily but I for sure think it will tell us where louisa stands in the playoffs. I think these are some pretty good teams and the winner out of them has a very good chance to go to the end.
