Hey guys. It’s time for my weekly Region A list and a couple of minor comments. Coming in two weeks is my always insightful (yet comical) review. Hope you all are ready for it!

Region A Top 20 (for week of Sept. 20)

*Number in parenthesis depict rank last week.

1. Essex (1)- Defeated a team with a name of what I expect them to do in the playoffs; make a “Deep Run.”

2. Franklin (2)- Scored a lot of points to put away Charles City early. Should win next two before showdown against Brunswick.

3. King William (3)- Refreshed and re-energized for the Tidewater District run.

4. Sussex Central (4)- Still getting off to slow starts, but doing what it takes to get the win.

5. Washington & Lee (6)- Put their foot down on Rappahannock and the hopes of Rappahannock to be a threat in the Northern neck.

6. Lancaster (7)- Slowly doing the little things and can be a dark horse in the 1A East Regional playoffs with the team’s speed.

7. Arcadia (9)- Not a misprint. Firebirds are continuing to win games and can position themselves for a playoff run.

8. Rappahannock (5)- Took it on the chin from the Eagles. They must now regroup in order to move forward.

9. Northumberland (8)- Loses a spot after being upset by Mathews. Being undefeated heading into district play no longer exists.

10. Nandua (12)- Milking that time off to prep themselves to make a run at the Eastern Shore District title.

11. Colonial Beach (10)- Gave Sussex Central a fit, but couldn’t get the offensive production going. Will take this week to regroup to see if they can get a win once they get back on the field.

12. Windsor (13)- Nice win over the Yellow Jackets, but still has to improve.

13. Mathews (16)- Big jump for the Blue Devils who pulled off a nice upset against Northumberland. Momentum will be nice to carry into Tidewater District play in a few weeks.

14. Surry County (15)- Second consecutive win, this time downing West Point after struggling early on.

15. Charles City (11)- Huge letdown for a second consecutive week. Has a bye week to get things together.

16. Middlesex (14)- Lack of offensive firepower against Lancaster results in a two spot drop for the Chargers.

17. Chincoteague (18)- Moves up a spot after having a bye week.

18. Northampton (17)- Falls a spot after being thumped by Windsor.

19. West Point (20)- An improved effort on the field results in a one spot jump for the Pointers.

20. King & Queen (19)- Tigers laid a goose egg against Cumberland.

Chincoteague didnt have an off week. They played National Christian Academy and lost 38-0.
