I agree @BoKnowsSports. Powhatan is getting healthy, is well coached and have some nice weapons. This is not a gimme game. They have to stop our run game and we will need to play sound pass defense. The Courtland and KG game intrigues me. Glad Varina and Huguenot may end up beating on each other again. If Dinwiddie's and King George win in round one it will be three years in row.

It's hard to believe Atlee fell so far. They were in a 3 way tie for 7th two weeks ago. The loss last night really hurt them. Losing to Spotsylvania earlier in the season hurt too. King George vs Courtland may be a good game; but I think Eastern View matches up better with King George. Huguenot vs Eastern View is a rematch from early in the season. Is there a chance of a different outcome this time? Big win for Dinwiddie last night, congratulations! Have a good one!

I like Huguenot by running clock over EV.

Powhatan and Dinwiddie will be close. Just don’t see Powahtan’s defense being able to stop Dalton consistently.

KG over Courtland. KG’s secondary will have to step it up. They have a freshman and sophomore playing on the back end.

Varina/Hanover will be very BLAH. I think Hanover played too conservative and scary last time. Varina can’t start looking ahead to Huguenot.

Really really hate that Hanover got that playoff spot over Monacan.

Spot on with your insights here, I think Powhatan can hang with Dinwiddie for a half, but ultimately the Generals will be too much. Honestly, Hanover beat us 1v1 so they deserve to be there. I do not think they are better than us though but you gotta win the head to head.

KG over Courtland and Varina will win handily over Hanover. Hanover has a scrappy QB but that is where it ends.

As for the region I will give a slight edge to Huguenot bc I think they are the most diverse team offensively. Not much separating the top 3 teams IMO who all have a very real shot at a regional title. Just gotta go take it.

I think Dinwiddie/Powahtan will go to the wire. Powahtan almost pulled the upset over Varina a few years back and got beat by Huguenot on the last play last year. I think Dinwiddie’s the better team but Powahtan is a bad match up for an athletic team like Dinwiddie or Varina. If Powahtan can get the ball to Whitver and Henderson consistently (like Matoaca did last night with their playmakers) and control clock, it’ll be close. If they get behind early and have to lean on their defense to stop Dalton/Zion Boisseau then I got Dinwiddie by 21.

Got Dinwiddie blasting through Powhatan. After a win like last night this team will be juiced going into next week. Also they had a TON of mistakes. Mills and staff are gonna be dialed in on fixing that.

Varina and Huguenot "should" win easy but both are rematches and could be tricky if they both are looking ahead to each other.

Hanover knows how to make the game ugly against Varina. Just hope the OC comes in with a sound gameplan and doesn't try to be too pretty. Get Wyche and D Carter the ball early and don't just throw the deep ball.

EV played Huguenot tough for a half but Huguenot's athleticism and honestly just some boneheaded plays by EV blew that game open. Huguenot has some weird 1st halves against teams they are much more athletic than so if EV comes locked in they could make it close for a half.

No real idea about KG and Courtland but I'll go with recent history and say KG wins that one.

I watched Courtland at Eastern View last night. A sloppy game by both sides and the officiating was hot garbage on both sides.

Eastern View has an elusive quarterback who can throw it a mile. They also have some elusive running backs. Courtland can run the ball, and if they run lure King George to sleep and keep possession, then they will be able to keep next week's game close. Courtland actually cost themselves about 1:30 late in the game last night by passing incomplete on second and third down when they had the lead.

I watched King George against Spotsylvania last week and they have the athletes (again) to turn the lights out early. I actually think that winning the coin toss will be key in this one as Courtland will want to take the ball first to chew through the first quarter.

Spotsylvania did well with ball fakes. Some of the best I've ever seen them do. And that's one of the big reasons they were able to catch King George off guard and put up 42 last week against the Foxes.

I still see both Courtland and Eastern View with early first round exits with King George getting bounced in the second round by at least two scores at Dinwiddie.

Lunsford is the only coach in the whole region that has given Billy Mills a run for his money. Hasn’t been close with any other team. I think King George matches up really well against Dinwiddie. The biggest and most obvious difference is QB play. Koch has put up huge numbers but will it be enough in a scoring match with Dinwiddie?

Oh I agree. Dinwiddie will have to stop KG’s offense too though. I think the biggest question mark is KG’s QB play which is why I asked that question in my last post. KG’s running game and WRs are legit as they come. May be the best collective skill group behind Huguenot.

The KG receivers are not like last years receivers and the game “would” be at Dinwiddie. The Battlefield as a whole was terrible this year.

Amen @DinwiddieProud! One game at a time. @BoKnowsSports has Powhatan playing us tough and I agree. The Indians have a formidable QB, receiving corp, and two running backs.

Defensively, I am not sure they match up as well, but they played a very athletic Huguenot tough. I can tell you Coach Mills isn't overlooking Powhatan.

The "Pit" is a huge advantage and with the exception of the 2017 loss to a Mark Fisher led Louisa team, a #1 seeded General team is a tough out.

Ehhh.. I mean sure. Wiggins and White were very good but I truly don’t see much drop off in Ky’Mani Carpenter and Gunnar Reagar on offense though. You can’t double one of them cause the other will make you pay. Gunnar will play early at the Naval Academy (wouldn’t be shocked if UVA offers him and Charles Johnson soon) and Ky’Mani will be a FBS DB but he’s played incredible at WR. Both kids are 6’1 and game changers in that Air Raid system. Still haven’t mentioned Charles Johnson who they’ll line up at WR and RB. He’s 6’2 going to UConn. Their offense is legit and the Battlefield has been horrible.

After following KG for the past 2 seasons, I believe Wiggins and White are missed more on defense. It was hard throwing in lanes because they always found the ball and made plays. KG misses that the most out of anything.

I think each game will be 21+ blow outs. After Friday Mills will make sure to fix those mistakes made on Friday. 16 drops smh I know practice wont be good tomorrow afternoon. It’ll take alot of mistakes next Friday in order for Powhatan to stay in that game. 45-14 Dinwiddie

Huguenot will roll EV it seems like EV has gotten worse instead of better throughout the season an that won’t bode well Friday 49-7 Hueguenot

Hanover will have to be very aggressive and tricky Friday in order to steal this one from the Blue devils. They ran the ball well the first time they met but could not connect on passes and penalties put them behind the sticks a lot. I think Varina will impose there will early 35-7 Blue Devils

King George is flat out too much for Courtland! Only way Courtland can win this is if they slow the game down and get first downs and score each position. 42-12 KG
