hawknation92

VaPreps Varsity
Dec 16, 2005

Put together a final week breakdown.

Glenvar vs. Radford 24 points
Galax vs. Grayson 2 either way
Floyd vs. Alleghany 2 either way
Carroll vs. James River 2 either way
Giles bye
Covington vs. Bath 2
Cave Springs vs. Hidden Valley 2
236+24+10=270 27.0000
CS vs. HV is a toss up so could be 268 26.8000

Appomattox vs. Altavista 24
Buckingham vs. Randolph Henry (Monday) 2
Buckingham vs. Prince Edward 2
Rustburg vs. Liberty
Heritage vs. Jefferson Forrest 1
Gretna vs. Dan River 2 either way
William Campbell vs. Chatham 2 either way
Colonial Beach vs. Dinwiddie
206+24+9= 239 26.5556
Buckingham PE is a toss up but give it to Appo. Only other likely possibility is Rustburg winning but puts them at 26.7778 still hair short of Glenvar.

Giles bye
Floyd vs. Alleghany 2 either way
Radford vs. Glenvar 2 either way
Carroll vs. James River 2 either way
Blacksburg vs. Christiansburg 1
Graham vs. Marion 1
Narrows vs. Parry McCluer 2
250+10= 26.0000
Only scenerio for Giles is losing point from Graham or two from Narrows but no matter what locked firmly in third unless MAJOR upset of top two. Can't drop down since their season is done.

Gretna vs. Dan River 28
Brunswick vs. Greenville
Tunstall vs. Franklin County
Nottoway vs. Central Lunenburg 2
Radford vs. Glenvar
Altavista vs. Appomattox 1
Chatham vs. WilliamCampbell 1
196+28+4= 228 22.800
Have Floyd ar 229 so only shot is Tunstall win which is very possible or Brunswick which is very unlikely. Looks as if William Campbell or Dan River loss could cost Gretna. Even if WC could have won last night it could have been tie which Gretna holds tiebreaker with more points scored.

Floyd vs. Alleghany 28
Christiansburg vs. Blacksburg
Patrick vs. Bassett
Auburn bye
Fort Chiswell vs. Bland 2
Giles bye
Carroll vs. James River 2 either way
Glenvar vs. Radford 1
196+28+5=229 22.9000
This seems very locked as losing Forts two would be biggest chance probably for upset but not likely.

Fort Chiswell vs. Bland 24
Rural Retreat vs. Wythe 2 either way
Radford vs. Glenvar
Auburn off
Galax vs. Grayson 1
Tazewell vs. Lebanon
Graham vs. Marion 1
Floyd vs. Alleghany 1
188+24+5=217 21.7000
Could gain two with Lebanon which is toss up or Grayson would give them two instead of one but not matter what should win and barring MAJOR upset by Martinsville or Dan River they locked at six.

Martinsville vs. Martinsville 15
Morehead vs. Rockingham Co.
Chatham vs. William Campbell
Byrd vs. Northside 1
GW vs. Halifax 1 either way
Tunstall vs. Franklin Co.
Patrick vs. Bassett 2 either way
Dan River vs. Gretna
184+15+4=203 20.3000
Martinsville upsets Magna Vista could move up to six or Dan River upset could move them back to eight. Most likely though locked in here at seven.

Dan River vs. Gretna 14
Magna Vista vs. Martinsville 1
Bassett vs. Patrick 2
Tunstall vs. Franklin Co.
Halifax vs. GW
Appo vs. Altavista 1
Chatham vs. WC 1
179+15+5= 198 19.8000
Only scenerio is upsetting Gretna and moving up to seven, very unlikely could get six even with upset. Otherwise firmly locked in at eight.

So is it.
1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

Is that how it will play out in C.

Region D doesn't stand a chance despite Graham beating Giles. Hell Martinsville could beat Graham and Union according to some

What is "Tie-Breaker" if 2 teams are tied in VHSL points at end of regular season ?
Here are the tie breakers....

(a) The Rating Scale-Considering all regular season games played against public and non-public Virginia schools and scheduled in accordance with the provisions of 68-4-6.
(b) The winner of any games between the two tied teams if only the tied teams are involved. If more than two teams tied, and one of the tied teams beat all other tied teams, that team shall advance.
(c) The team with the better record against all common opponents.
(d) A team that played an opponent with an effective nine (9) game schedule (non-recognized opponent, i.e., home school or out-of-state non-public school, or inability to schedule/play a 10th game) shall be seeded ahead of a school whose opponents play 10 game schedules.
(e) Schools that played an opponent with nine-game schedules shall be seeded ahead of opponents who played 10-game schedules.
(f) The team with the highest winning percentage against rating scale recognized opponents.
(g) The team with the higher average rating of all of each team's opponents.
(h) The team with the higher average rating of all of each team's VHSL public and VHSL non-public school opponents
(i) The regional chairman, or his/her alternate if his/her school is involved, shall draw by lot to determine the playoff representative.
(j) The group chairman or vice chairman if the chairman's school is involved, shall draw by lot to determine the playoff representative. Should both the group chair and vice chair be involved in the tie the group secretary would oversee the process.

I like my idea better. :D

That some is Martinsville fans. Heard this at beginning of year then came out losing. Gets big win of state contender Dan River last week and the chirping began again. Region D has as good of a shot as any.

Hawknation92, true enough, my Dawgs took some bad Lssss this year. Losing to Wm Byrd and GW Danville was kinda expected. We lose a 7 point game to Morehead with 7 turnovers. We lose a close game to 5A Halifax Co. It is what it is!!!!! My Dawgs are probably an 8 seed. I wouldn't underestimate the Bulldawgs. Their starting QB hadn't played football in 2 years. I think they did ok under the circumstances. I will tell you and anyone else in 2A, Martinsville has play makers. Take them for granted and someone may be sitting at home watching the rest of the playoffs.

Nottoway on way to 4-5 seed in region A and will finish 7-3. Who has Martinsville beat with winning record. Come up 2 point conversion shy of beating WC who will finish 8-2. Beat Tunstall 45-14 not 28-21. Would rather face Martinsville in playoffs than teams we will face.

Maybe so....just saying knocking Martinsville when you have beaten no one doesn’t make sense.

Martinsville could be a team like last years Blacksburg team. I put the big emphasis on could. They have the talent individually but they have to come together and become a true team to become dangerous. The star players you are all talking about, have to want to win more than they want to shine and the Jimmys and johns have to buy in. We will see come playoff time if the predictions on here are true, or will they fold in adversity.

Is martinsville, 7 seed, and dan River, 8 seed - locked in those spots ? What happens if MV beats martinsville and DR beats Gretna ??

Not locked in, if MV and DR win plus rider points they could easily flip flop, not sure either can catch Fort at 6 or not I have not looked at all of that.

If both Glenvar and Appo win this Friday.......

Glenvar will get the top seed in Region C if either Covington or CS win on Friday.

Appo will get the top seed if both Covington and CS lose and Buckingham, Heritage and Rustburg all win on Friday.

I wonder what Hawknation92 will say if DR beats Gretna. DR is a team that my Dawgs smoked 56-28. Better win Hawknation92 or you will be hearing from me lol. I'm a Bulldawg and I know our limitations; I also know that we can be very dangerous when we good consistent play from our very inexperienced QB.

Martinsville is probably playing as good as anyone now, other than Appomattox or Glenvar. I would not want to face Bulldogs in playoffs.

Martinsville in there last three games beat 1-8 Patrick county, 0-9 Bassett and Dan River and they are now getting compared to Appomattox... and I wouldn’t say that Glenvar has been playing top notch ball considering the last time they were on a field they lost at home to Giles. Do you all research anything before you start talking nonsense?

Hampton Roads 6, it's obvious that someone has taken your post out of context. You weren't comparing Martinsville to Appomattox. You were simply saying Martinsville was playing ok the past 3 games. Everyone knows that Martinsville isn't on Appomattox's level. Every good team in 2A has played teams with losing records, so whatever on the Bassett, Patrick Co and Dan River comment.

Martinsville has the lowest enrollment of all the schools in the Piedmont District.

Congratulations on having a lower enrollment I guess. Every good team in 2A has played schools with higher enrollment...
It’s one thing to beat bad competition. It’s another thing to use that as a basis to state that a team is dangerous or a playoff threat. It isn’t hard to look good against teams of that caliber. I don’t care what Bassets enrollment is. Beating them 35-20 isn’t anything a good program is going to be impressed by.

LoL. Ok. We all know what time it is when it comes to basketball. Martinsville is a threat more often than not. 15 Chips and counting!!!!
