As far as I know, the 4 Regions in Class 1 have NOT officially decided to send 8 teams to the playoffs. I have no information on which to base this, but an 8 team per region seems like a logical choice.

Assuming this will be the format, pick the 8 teams that YOU think will be playoff bound after 10 regular season games. I know that this can be a little tough, since only about 1/3 of the teams have released their full schedules.

Pick your teams in order of #1 to #8. And keep this in mind when you rank your teams, VHSL points!
A 6-4 team could well be ranked #2 or #3 because of points.

And, pick one, and only one #9 wildcard team that you think could very well make the playoffs if the stars line up.

This list is in alphabetical order, and comes from the VHSL website.

REGION C, 12 Schools

AURBURN
BATH COUNTY
BLAND COUNTY
COVINGTON
CRAIG COUNTY
EASTERN MONTGOMERY
GALAX
(Highland County does not field a football team)

Region C and D should only get 6 playoff teams each, A maybe 8 and B maybe 6 as the teams stands now.

A should definitely get 8 in. IMO D should as well. C is probably good at 6. 8 would only leave 4 teams out. Region B won't have 6 because there are only 7 football schools and likely only 5 will be eligible for postseason due to scheduling.

I'm good with having 8 in each (except B). Every other sport has had a conference tournament/ district tournament that sorts the bubble teams out. I'd rather have a team that shouldn't be in travel to the 1 seed and lose than cut it off early and have a team like Galax a few years ago miss the playoffs. I know many of you disagree with me but I just don't see the harm in it. I'm not saying everyone should get in. I'm just saying I would rather have a 4-6 make it or even the off year that a 3-7 makes it than have 6-4 or 7-3 teams sitting at home the second Friday in November.

I agree with you Point. I like the most inclusive playoff format that is realistic. (And realistic is relative to a lot of factors.) Playoff "Seeding" makes sure that including more teams does not dilute the actual competition.

I always ask this. Have you ever heard a coach or a player say that "they wish they had not made playoffs".

Which is worse? A group of kids on a 3-7 team having the memories of actually being in a playoff game? Or a group of kids on a 7-3 team not having the opportunity for that memory?
