J.I. Burton travels to Patrick Henry, and Hurley is at Chilhowie. I look for the JIB and PH to be very close. Burton has played the tougher schedule and has improved as the season has progressed.PH lost their best RB to Injury in mid season, and It had to hurt PH. PH can score, but their defense is some what weak. JIB can score, so we probably will see a lot of points.

Hurley is not near as strong this year, as last years squad. Their QB is very good, and he makes Hurley a threat any time they have the ball. He can take the game over at any time. Chilhowie has been flying low under the radar. The Warriors have a real tough team, capable of winning Region D, if they play up to their potential. Chilhowie should win, but I don't expect Hurley to lay down.

Best of luck to all 4 teams, and hopefully no injuries for any squad.

Chilwar, maybe we can meet at the game. I believe this is the first meeting between the two schools. Hope Hurley can make a game out of it and it not turn into a blowout..I watched JIB and Grundy, was shocked that they beat the Wave, much better than I thought.

Hey Honestjohn, that would be great if we could meet up. I was looking forward to going to the game, and still am. One setback; I fell Monday night in my bedroom and split my head wide open. The rescue squad took me to the ER, now I have 13 staples and 3 stiches in my scalp. I am doing ok. No bones broken or concussion. I am sore all over. Thank God.
I going to see if I can sit in my car with my 80 year old friend and watch the game. I'll let you know. I think it will be a good game. I have always had much respect for Hurley High School.

Very sorry about your fall, we will definitely have to meet . Chilhowie is very good and will be a big challenge for Hurley, but they are capable of making it a good game, at least I hope so.

Hey Honestjohn, I look forward to seeing you Friday night. I will be parked near the flagpole/scoreboard area on the track. Look for a white Toyota 4 Runner, with 2 old men in it.
I look for a good game. To be honest, Hurley scares me with that QB that is quick and can turn a game around in a minute. See you Friday!

Just a question looking at the PH Burton game and the comment that Burton played the tougher schedule, I would say either played that tough of a schedule almost identical. Eastside,Castlewood, TW, TS, RC, Chilhowie, Honaker each was played. Now PH never played anyone close to Union but Battle did beat Lee. So I would say they are about equal Burton seems to b on a roll since the loss to Eastside so they should be a slight favorite.

Chilhowie played @ Hurley in 1958...that was the last time these 2 have tangled on the gridiron.

Chilhowie 25 Hurley 13 October 17, 1958.

J. I. Burton 36 PH Glade 28 / Chilhowie 35 Hurley 0 Should be a entertaining rematch with J.I.B. next Saturday. Both teams seem to be playing best ball of season. Chilhowie needs to clean up some penalties but overall good effort.

Just for knowing folks, I hadn't been in the stadium but 5 minutes when Honestjohn came over to my car. We talked for a while before the game and discovered we have several things in common. He appears to be like all of us; a die hard football fan who loves his team. Good to meet him. He certainly would be a good ambassador for the Hurley community.
