should be a great game vs 2 great football programs, rematch from last years great championship game, both coaches r great with casto picking up his 200th win last night with all but 5 coming from rhs, both final 4 games should be classics, does galax have a lot of seating for the visiting team, cause rhs will bring a crowd, and what are the recommended eating places around there, good luck to the final 4 teams. GO BIG RED

I like it that here in Virginia the smaller classifications aren't made to play their home playoff games at someone else's field because the powers that be don't think your school doesn't have enough seating capacity. It's worth a little discomfort in order for your kids to play state playoff games at home. I know several states that would demand your game be moved in a heartbeat.

Sadly they will move games away from a team. Essex had to a few years ago and I know a few other teams have had to move. Galax has enough space for alot of people with the hill they have its plenty of seating.

Essex had to the last 2 years. In 2014 they played Haysi at King William and last year they played Galax at King George.

I'm going to go out on a limb and think he's suggesting it was more than seating capacity. IIRC, after the FC game there were complaints about crowd control (that was funny because the complainers were the ones out of control). In essence, EHS has no permanent barrier at the rear of their end zones.

Yeah that was one of the complaints but to me that still falls under a facility issue. Everyone knows that FC complained that year. Not even going to go into that again but yes a barrier would have been nice. Then maybe their fans wouldn't have surrounded the locker room and vehicle that the refs were in

They cross bracket once they get to the final four. The highest remaining East seed hosts the lowest remaining West seed and vice versa. GW and Galax can meet in the championship if they both win this week

methinks someone has been visiting another site. A bunch of Blues fans on FB were like "we're not playing Appo?" and "According to Max, we're playing Appo"

The galax game is friday night correct at 7? sorry for so many dumb ?s im from sparta,nc 30min from galax and havent been to a virginia hs game in awhile.

I don't for sure yet if it's on Friday night or Saturday afternoon, I think someone said it would be Saturday 1:30.

I believe all games on all levels will be played on Saturday from here on out

It's been that way in Virginia for as long as I can remember that the state semis and championship game are on Saturday. I guess maybe because when you get to this stage there is more travel involved. I obviously love a Friday night game as well but when it gets to this stage the atmosphere is electric no matter what

Man it's so odd not seeing Essex in a semifinal match up!

Here in nc only state championships are on saturdays but they r at college stadiums which stink instead of at highschools

They're at college stadiums in Virginia as well for the championship game

First time in 4 years that they haven't been to at least the semis. Very young team this year and just ran into a buzzsaw in Riverheads in the playoffs. All of the top skill guys will be back next year and the qb and rb are only sophomores and the jv team won the district. Sometimes there are just seasons that don't go your way but the kids will hit the weight room in January and start preparing for next year.

Yea it looks like injuries took their toll down the stretch. And Riverheads is rolling right now. If Galax stops them it will be about like two freight trains hitting head on.

I have no doubt Essex will be back with a vengeance next season. Well coached squad with kids who want to succeed. The rematch with Altavista a few years back in the title game was a blast to see in person. I truly feel either of those schools could have won D2 that year.

Yes injuries definitely hurt down the stretch. Had 3 or 4 guys playing out of their normal position the last couple games. Was not the same defense that began the season that held Goochlands offense scoreless at the beginning of the season. Between injuries and the big 400 lb dt quitting it really changed things. But no excuses from anyone and next year is a new beginning.
