This is a game I'm really looking forward to. To me its the best benefit game going this Friday. GW has Taszwell who I hear is more than down this season. So I might try and make a trip to Honaker if I can this Friday.

It really depends on how Honaker is this year. They lost a lot and have plenty of sophomores slotted to play this year. If they can not play like sophomores, it should be a good game. But, then again, it has the possibility to be a game that gets out of hand.

Remains to be seen.

I agree it could get out of hand and I mean this as no disrespect to Honaker but to be honest it could get out of hand against Richlands with just about anyone they play this season. Richlands WR game is light-years beyond most other teams and you're just flat out good. That's not saying Honaker isn't the hype they have is for a reason. It think it will be the best game around safe travels to anyone making the trip.

I'm really looking forward to this weeks game against Honaker. They are young, but have some talent and as Ryan said, it depends on how fast the young players grow up and the game slows down for them.
I think this Richlands team is a bad matchup for this years Tigers. This is one of the best set of receivers the Blues have had and a left handed QB that can sling it. We have a very good O line with the potential to be great as the season goes on depending on how quickly the 2 new starters come along.
This game will depend on whether Honaker can put any pressure on the blues QB. If he gets the time, he will pick them apart, but if they are able to put good pressure on him, it may make it a bit more interesting..........at least for a while.
The Blues are extremely deep also so they don't lose a lot when they bring in the 2nd stringers, and that is where I think that Honaker is at a big disadvantage.
It's also going to depend on what coach Mance wants to show and work on. He may want to work more on the running game in this game since he didn't get to as much in the jamboree.
It will be a big crowd, there are a lot of family's that have ties to both sides...........like myself. I played for and graduated from Richlands and my wife graduated and now teaches in the Honaker area. Suffice to say that I will be sitting on one side and my wife on the other.....lol

This is a great assessment of this game I think that Honakers one big weakness if they have one will the there youth. And if there age leads to problems this season... I don't think it will much at all it will only help them over the next few seasons. And Bigrhsfan I know how you feel I played and graduated from GW and my wife from RR lol

Sadly Im not going to be able to make it tonight can you please keep us updated? Thanks if so and safe travels.

Richlands up 27 -0 at halftime, Honaker might have 30 yards of total offense in the half.

Here is my quick take after just getting back:

1. Thoughts go out to Hart from Honaker. He they punted and Austin made a few players look silly and as Hart chased Atkinson down, Lowe had a clean block that took Hart and one other out. Hart walked off the field under his own power, but it was apparent he wasn't really ok. He ended up being transported by ambulance to the hospital. Screams concussion. Hope he is ok.

2. Richlands defense is every bit as good as advertised. Honaker didn't manage a first down until 1:07 left in the first half. The official stats showed that Honaker had 96 total yards of offense, but the first team Richlands D held them to about 50ish. This group will be scary as the season moves along.

3. Our offense is not at all lacking in the skill positions. Howie took his first pass for 60 yards to the 1 yard line. He caught the ball around the 50 and in the center of the field and he just turned on the Jets and was gone to the outside. Collins, Farris, Atkinson, and Ball all looked good in limited targets. Lowe had a nice 17 yard catch as well.

4. Mental mistakes. This game was 27-3, but could have easily been 42-3 if a few things don't happen. The snap over the QB head when we are inside the 5 can't happen. You just can't do that. We also had 2-3 fumbles tonight that we lost. Also saw a few missed assignments on the offensive line. Gotta start to clean those up before GC strolls into Ernie Hicks next week.

5. I really hope Wladron is ok. He was down for a while and it's his left knee. He has an MRI early next week and let's hope it's just a sprain or a bruised knee. Time will tell though.

I'm very excited for this team. The hype is there and they didn't disappoint tonight in their half of play with the starters.

Update on the kid that was taken to the hospital. He has contusions to his lungs and heart, and his liver is swollen.

Those are injuries more consistent with a car crash than a hit in a football game. Hope he recovers.

Glad to hear he is at home now and my prayers go out to him and his family and all the Honaker fans. I'll be praying for a speedy and full recovery.

Man, there was some really hard hitting going on in that game !
Ryans write up pretty tells the tell. Richlands is very good at the skill positions and the line will be good. Mance was trying several combinations on the line and they allowed 3 sacs. need to fix that.
Offence I think had 3 fumbles also, you just can't do that, and at least 1 and maybe 2 were on plays were the receiver had the ball and a chance to make a big play and fumbled.
Gotta also clean up the penalties. I believe there were 12.
But this team has a chance to be VERY good ! They have the ability to score from anywhere on the field at any time. They have 2 or 3 dangerous kick returners also.......especially Atkinson !
As Ryan said, the D was just dominate and have a chance to be Dominate most of the year. They are a very hard hitting group that will flat out HIT you.
The kicking game needs some work, but they did have some nice kickoffs, but field goals iffy. The kid has a good leg, just needs to get a little more accurate. But this team has what it takes to make another deep run !
