After reading through Danny’s article, I wanted to comment on the kid from Powhatan. I was really impressed by the “no quit” attitude of Mitchell Johnson. That kid NEVER went down on first or second contact. To tell the truth, he just flat refused to be brought down. I know the score doesn’t validate this, but if the kid had received a little more help, the Indians could have made a better game of it.
Unfortunately, Johnson’s never quit attitude led to some “chippyness” that detracted from the contest. Both teams are culpable, as I witnessed taunting from both teams.
The rest of Powhatan‘s schedule had better work on their run defense. Johnson should just get better with each game, and his 171 yards against Manchester may just be the start of an amazing season.
