Player to watch -- Maliek White, George Wythe: He was All-Metro last year, scoring with speed an intensity and dropping 3-pointers with ease. How far can he lead a young Bulldogs team?

Storyline to follow -- Has Conference 26 been dethroned? For the past two years, it seemed as if Conference 26 was the best conference in the state. Now, you could argue there’s more talent top to bottom in Conference 12. But Conference 26 still has three elite teams, John Marshall, Hopewell and Wythe. But the conference is top heavy with those three. Can any team from the bottom half challenge the top half?

The challengers: Petersburg has depth, and will play scrappy, up-tempo basketball with juniors Shakur Proses and Stanley Davis. But there’s not much size or experience. Thomas Jefferson has size with 6-4 Jamie Anderson (10 ppg) and 6-6 Daekwon Spence (10 ppg). Armstrong is a young team but has a deep, athletic roster. Junior Brian Harris average 10 ppg last year.
