Hylton High School junior running back Ricky Slade announced Friday he has committed to Penn State.
Slade is rated the No. 1 prospect in Virginia for the class of 2018 by Rivals and the No. 58 overall prospect in the nation. He is rated by ESPN.com as the No. 30 player in the nation. He received 28 offers overall.
"As a family, they did a great job of evaluating the process," Hylton head coach Tony Lilly said. "When they decided, that was it. They were solid. It's a 100 percent commitment."
Before any final decision was made, though, Slade needed his mom's approval. It was important for Heather Slade to hear about Penn State's academic plans for her son so she joined her family Sunday at Penn State for a get-together attended by other juniors being recruited by the Nittany Lions.
