Riverbend 28 Colonial Forge 7

So, this is a pretty common question when there is a big upset like what Riverbend pulled off yesterday.

Has Colonial Forge fallen off that much or did Riverbend improve from a 3-8 team 14 months ago to a team that looks like they could challenge for a Region B title in Class 6?

Part of the answer could be that C. Forge played a QB that wasn't even listed in their roster list in this position. His athleticism is unquestionable but his passing inaccuracy took away half of the Eagle's typical balanced offensive scheme.

The other half of that equation was that C. Forge's defense gave up more run yards than I've seen in many years!

I think we'll know more next week when Riverbend travels to Massaponax next week.

You nailed it. Next week should be interesting as Riverbend has a few ex Ponax coaches/players on staff so there is a lot of familiarity there.

Good to know that. So, they're building their own thing with some proven coaches! Whichever team comes out of that Region will be very tough in the playoffs!

Riverbend also picked up Mathias Barnwell from Spotsylvania. Barnwell was a Penn State Commit who is ranked as the Number 2 Tight End in the country by at least one recruiting service.

He is a problem for teams, no doubt. Probably one of the biggest kids I've seen play HS football.
