I would add a few things to your comments. While there were not many flags there were a few calls against both team that seemed off to me very late. It helped the Red team one time, then gave life to Draft on another. Not a big deal but it could have hurt either team had they capitalized on it.
Also, I think the clock operator went to sleep when Draft ran its first play with just under 30 seconds left. It was a double handoff with the last cougar sprinting across the entire field and throwing a great pass for about 35yds with only 7 seconds running off the clock. It was a great throw mind you but the time was blatantly off on that exchange.
I think this game had a different feel than last years game but quite the intensity from both teams. Seemed like both teams were tentative at times because the season is so young and so are some of the players filling roles. Both have stellar athletes that we will read more about over the next weeks, months and years so the future looks bright for both.
As a Gladiator fan I will say that there are two names I heard all night and rightfully so. Gunn and Ruiz-Haynes, both young men play the game the right way and have their handprint on a lot of what happens on both sides of the ball. Best of luck to them and the rest of the Cougars as they certainly have a solid team again this year.
As always RollPride,
(btw, I drove 6 hours from Greenville SC to get there in time for kickoff, well worth the ride)
