Had a little car trouble after the game tonight so I will keep this short.
Elijah Dunlap pitched a solid 6 1/3 innings tonight to lead the Big Red past the Cougars. The Gladiators pushed across single runs in two of the earlier innings before Grant Painter salted the win away with a two-run homer in the 4th.
The Cougars had a somewhat frustrating evening of it as they hit safely in six of their seven at-bats, including a lead-off double in the second, but they just could not bring those base-runners around. Finally, after Casey Butler relieved Dunlap in the 7th, they pushed across a pair of runs to make it respectable but the Gladiators calmly closed it out to maintain their hold on second place in the district and stay within striking distance of Page County.
RHS will be home again Thursday as they try to avenge an earlier loss to East Rockingham.
