Not sure what games you guys are watching but LB has sideline to sideline speed unlike anything Riverheads has faced in a while. They have good size up front and are better than your average 3A school. Competing is one thing and I don’t think you will see the Gladiators back down but to win will take an exceptional effort out of Riverheads. Not sure in week 3 we will see the fully developed team that should be clicking come late November. It’s early and the blocking isn’t where it will be eventually and frankly the defense still has a few kinks to work out. Not being a Debbie downer but realistically it should be a 21 point loss for the fellas from G’ville.
Riverheads is not playing very well right now. If they play like they have the last 2 weeks LB will spank them. The defense gave up a lot of yards last night and the run game struggled at times against PM. The game was actually a lot closer than the final score. LB wins by at least 2 TDs unless RHS has a drastic improvement from week 2 to 3.
That's what I witnessed from the fence against PM . Too much yardage allowed on D. Not sharp . A long way to go before they come close to peaking ! LB by 3 scores

Interesting assortment of opinions. I am still working on my thoughts about this one. Too many college games on the tube today to give it much thought!!!
For those that are saying LB is down a bit, I tend to agree but they are still a damn good team. And Riverheads isn’t the same team from the last few years. I know what I see

Since some of u are saying that this is a david vs goliath matchup and rhs will get beat by 2 or 3 scores or so, why don't they have coach harless and coach casto have a leg wrestling contest best 2 out of 3 and the winner wins the football game.

I'm still pondering but I am puzzled by a couple of comments above criticizing Riverheads' defense. Correct me if I am wrong, but the first-string defense has not been scored upon, so I don't see the weaknesses you guys are describing. Waynesboro's two TDs were scored against the subs and PM did not score at all.
@longtimerhsfan , neither of those teams should have moved the ball at all. I will give you that Waynesboro scored on the subs but PM moved the ball on a couple of their drives but just could not find a way to get in the end zone. This defense is not as good as the past two years and probably not as good as the 2016 Gladiators IMO. That’s said, again it will take a monumental effort to beat an admittedly down LB. These are opinions and could certainly be proven wrong.
Freeatlast, where did you get the projection on Calpreps? I ask because Calpreps doesn't project until 1 October for the current season and what they have in Virginia right now for 2021 is for the spring (6 months ago). If going by the spring of 2021, they projected LB to beat Riverheads by a score of 34-31. For this fall, nothing is projected yet. Not until October 1.
RHS Defense is the toughest part of their team. For whatever reason, underrated. Dominant year in and year out.

The default when you google Calpreps defaults to the year of 2012. The matchup you are getting projected for the score of 28-17 is for the year of 2012, not 2021. For the spring of 2021, the projection is/was 34-31 in favor of LB. For the FAll 2021 (current season) there is no projection yet. It will not come out until October.
Obviously Riverheads has not played a team that has won a game yet while Lord Botetourt has played two bigger schools in Blacksburg with about 1200 students and E.C. Glass with about 1400. Blacksburg is a little down but better than last year while Glass will be in the 4a playoffs most likely.

Eller, Isaiah Stephens, and Colston Powers weren't on last season's team though. They were the season before. But that's a lot of D1 guys!
I dont think using Blacksburg as a measuring stick for LB tells us much since Giles beat them, Giles is really down and got beat by 4 tds last week against Galax. I still believe its going to be a monumental task for Riverheads to come away with the win. LB has far superior team speed. I just hope Riverheads can keep it close.
