I didn't attend this one but the paper says the scores were 25-6, 25-19, 25-15. I can say now that I hoped the Big Red could pull this one out tonight and make it to Salem but I was reluctant to come right out and say it on here. I guess our two sweeps over the Region A teams proves that Region B was just stronger.

At any rate, it had to be tough for the Gladiators to go into that environment and take such immediate charge of that first set. So much for Coach Stapleton's recent comment about how bus trips take something out of you!!

Congrats to the Lady Gladiators and now we will find out how they measure up against Auburn on Saturday. It should almost be like a home game for Auburn, since their trip there will be something like 30 miles I am guessing. But the Big Red will bring some folks too I imagine!

My opinion they are just ahead of all 1A schools right now .they have a winning sports program. to win state in almost if not all sports lately that’s amazing # titletown

How many state titles did Auburn win last year don’t overlook their accomplishments

Oh I remember all too well......In one afternoon, about 20 miles apart (Radford and Pulaski) Auburn squeezed past our Gladiator teams in the baseball and softball state semis, winning each one by a single run in the final inning. Then to make matters worse, each of those winning teams then clobbered the opposition the next day, winning the two state titles easily and leaving RHS fans that much more disappointed about what could have been.

Now that was then and this is now, and I am sure Auburn has some of that talent left over. But a Riverheads victory on Saturday would sure take away some of the sting from those two losses.
