We should just play the game now and crown Riverheads the champ, but not so fast my friends. Regardless of how you may feel there is a lot of football to play, not to mention these are 16, 17 year old kids, and there are injuries, there is that night when things go wrong.

There are several teams in the west that can play with Galax, which could capitalize on a down night;

Narrows crushed a “decent” Covington team but don’t play anyone now til the last game of season against Parry McCluer.

George Wythe, there is no doubt they can play with Galax if they come with the right game plan. I know they read this stuff so I will tell you how to win out and play the Riverheads in Salem. Hand the ball off to your running backs, it is that simple, I promise! I am not sure what they are averaging per carry but it has to be high.

Don’t worry if those backs are the hero’s for the season, because if you beat Riverheads then the QB will get the credit, plus he already has all the records, just run that damn ball to Salem, please!

I know this pick is hard for you guys to see but I put Parry McCluer winning out and they played William Campbell just as good as a good Gretna team. Can they beat Galax on a bad night, I don’t see why not?

Chilhowie is a top west team and Grundy is my sleeper they are being overlooked by everyone in the west I think they can play with all these teams.

Then there is the East; Riverheads, Riverheads, Riverheads, William Campbell is getting no respect and has some good wins on the year.

Sussex and Essex are no cupcakes themselves, last year was last year and a bad game is all it takes.

I am not from the east so I really am not sure about, Colonial Beach, W&L, West Point who by the way if they had scored a touchdown in the first three quarters against Colonial Beach…..but I suppose they are like Narrows and Patrick Henry in the west.

I am not sure how many chickens I have, but you say you have 4, and he said he had 4, when all I see is a dozen of eggs.

All honesty IMO there may be 8 teams, but then again Riverheads vs Galax looks better than William Campbell vs George Wythe, Essex vs Grundy, or Chilhowie vs Sussex Central, add Patrick Henry vs Colonial Beach and Narrows vs W & L just to get the travel miles logged.

Traveling is not cheap, but these games would be good week 8 match-ups or a great tournament. And hell yeah I would have Galax vs Riverheads first round just to get it over with.

Teams like George Wythe should schedule to play a couple games a year against the east and travel to them. They could fly into the local airport, get on their private charter bus travel to game, after game hit up VB, that gives them a couple days to play on beach before fling home. They like the beach.

GW beats Galax with the long ball. Galax will run power to strong side all night. If GW doesn’t make in game adjustments, it will be another long night for them. Galax will hold on every play, the refs are not going to call everyone of them. Advantage Galax because Dixon teaches that and he plays the odds that the refs want call the majority of them. Throw the ball deep on 1st down, not on 3rd when everyone knows you have to.

Yeah, Riverheads is damn good. I like what I'm seeing from Essex though. Final Four:
Essex
Riverheads
Galax
Grundy (maybe Chilhowie)
Any of these teams could win it all.

I am still saying that WC and Sussex will not be easy outs for the two you have listed representing the east. William Campbell is playing good football and Sussex has all the tools to compete for and win the whole thing. I am in the minority here but there are 6-8 teams that can put it together and win that chip.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? In over 40 years of playing, coaching and watching football at different levels I have NEVER seen or heard of a coach teaching his players to intentionally hold and as you say "play the odds". Unbelievable comment on your part. Your feelings are obviously hurt by getting PHYSICALLY POUNDED by a better coached and simply better team. You apparently was not present for that game which was one of the worst and one sided officiated I have seen in a very long time (and it was not home cooking). I am not sure what the final tally was but I would say the officials called 15-20 penalties on Galax and all were either holding or motion. As anyone who knows the game of football there is holding on EVERY play but most officials do not try to call every one of them. The Fort is very lucky the beating and the score was not worse (there were points erased and drives killed due to the officials) but they certainly did all they could to keep FC in the game IMO.

The better team won Friday night and all the whining in the world does not change that fact. As far as the game with GW it will and should be a great game and the winner will set them selves up nicely for a playoff run. I look forward to seeing if Dixon and that GREAT coaching staff can "beat the odds" on Friday. ROLL TIDE ROLL....

Plenty of coaches teach blocking techniques that include borderline holding. Your own post rejects this idea, then subsequently acknowledges holding happens on every play...

Just wondering why that very well coached team had some much lack of discipline?? Can you tell me how many penalty yards Galax has. How many of those years involved playing it on video games?? Wasn’t Dixon an all American lineman and play in the NF of L. So he may know more than you about football and probably teachs the kids on how to get away with holding on every other play. But I don’t have 40 great years of football experience like yourself. Why aren’t you the head coach at Galax???

Meat chop 08, maybe you should sleep on your emotions and then reply to someone’s post. Just wondering in your own words, why did the refs call all of those penalties against Galax.

Just because holding happens on every play doesn't mean it's taught. Teaching borderline holding also isn't teaching holding....just saying

So why call it holding, if it’s not holding....just asking.

I seen allot of holding . Holding there blocks even down field about 20 yards. Fort player got mad and was flagged for unsportsmanlike like. LOL!

You need to go back and re-read and try and better understand my post. I said holding takes place on every play in football (which is a fact) but NO Coach teaches their players to hold as was stated by Fort89. If there are any doing so they are not much of a Coach IMO. If you or anyone else wishes to split hairs on holding and "border line" holding then so be it.

Hey did the kid make that FG at the end of the half Galax, I just watched the first half there was no holding, a lot of motion flags on galax, they move a lot, they looked pretty equal in 1st half, peeples is he #14 #1 seems tough also

No emotion at all in my post just fact(s) and of course my opinion(s) based on your comment(s) which were laughable at best.. I have always enjoyed your post through the years because win FC wins they did not win by enough or do it the right way and when they lose there is always a excuse why they did not win. At any rate the game is over and the better team won and now its time to move on.

Ft. C kid had TD to outside on 3 and 20 but ran inside and on 4th top men was open for TD but they int to center, next pos. the top man was open for TD twice and missed, If they play GW this way it will be a shoot out, they kept nine in the box. Ft should have been up by two scores at half

I went back and read my post, I couldn’t find any excuses. Could you help me out on that one. I made a factual statement and you called it an excuse. If you get to a point where you can comprehend why I said we lost. Let me know. I’m going to make another statement, give Dixon the FC players and he beats Galax. I’m not saying we have bad coaches but Dixon could teach our kids to hold on every play and play the odds the refs want call every one of them. It’s only borderline holding, so it doesn’t count. I’m going to use that one if I get pulled over for speeding.

We teach our kids to hold and get away with it; grab each side up under frontof shoulder pads, keep them close and drive them down field. if you get beat by defenders let go or they will call holding on ya. Is this uncommon or just unspoken.

It’s common to those who know football, to those who don’t. Well it offends them if you speak of it. LoL!!
