LB was up 31-14 with the ball early in the fourth. On 4th and 15 from the Robinson 30 the QB runs for 20 yards, makes the first down signal after he gets up, gets called for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Still a first down, but absolutely everything went Robinson's way after that.

LB went backwards after the penalty, with a big loss on third down pushing them well outside field goal range (they made a 46-yarder in the first half). After the punt, Robinson marched 80 yards to make it 31-21. Robinson recovered an onside kick, long pass completion sets them up for the QB sneak and their second touchdown in about 30 seconds, making it 31-28 with just over six minutes left. This time they kick deep, and on third down it's intentional grounding against LB just outside their end zone, spotting the ball on the one foot line for the punt. Robinson got possession back inside the LB 40 and bulldozed their way down the field as Robinson does, punching in the winning score with about 45 seconds left.

Prior to the late collapse LB had done a nice job on defense--gave up two long touchdown runs, one on Robinson's first offensive play of the game, but otherwise kept the Rams bottled up. Bruins took a 17-14 just before halftime with a drive that included converting a 3rd and 12 and two 3rd and 10s, and then looked to have taken control of the game with two more scores in the third.

Interesting how this game played out. I have to admit that is not the way I expected it to go, but ROB's defense is not that strong from what I have heard. When they played weaker teams, and were able to steamroll those teams as they like to, they got a lot of lopsided wins. I was curious how a game would go when they played a team with a better offense.

One question for you-it can be said that some teams win games, but others lose games (i.e., make unforced mistakes or fail to execute when they should have). Do you have an opinion how this result came about?

The turning point in the game was the unforced penalty by Lake Braddock, and LB had a couple other mishaps on that possession, but Robinson had to make a lot of plays in order to take advantage of the small opening they were provided, so I would say Robinson won it.

LB does seem to pick up more penalties than other top area teams over the years though.

Chantilly had a "first down" called penalty against them too, a couple weeks ago, that had a negative affect. These kids watch TV and college/NFL players who are allowed the liberty to show their enthusiasm within their rules. Not so in HS. I'm sure coaches mention it in the pre-season, but perhaps they should be reminding them of the rules of celebration...
