After watching the wildcats warmup, I am impressed. Our DBs are going to have to come up big for us tonight, as this offense looks explosive through the air. QB is a player you can tell. They also have a back who looks like he could run through a brick wall. I heard RC had taken a step back the past few years but they look solid after my first look, definitely improved since I last saw them.
Rockbridge Co vs RE Lee

Lee is a good team. Rockbridge played with them the first half but Lee dominated the 2nd. The Rockbridge QB struggled mightily in 2nd half and a few fumbles and the blocked punt did them in. The RB defense needs to improve and the offense needs some adjustments as well. Lee's defense played very well and they have numerous weapons on offense. The QB is very good and is a dangerous threat to run. RB just couldn't stop him. Next week will be a huge game for RB since Alleghany has owned them for the past 4 years. If RB can sure up it's defense and make the simple throws, they may be able to get back on track. LB coming in week 4 looks to be a daunting task for RB but other than Harrisonburg, RB should have a good shot in their other games. Lee will make the playoffs and win 7-9 games. Riverheads, Stuart's Draft, BG, and Eastrock will challenge them.
Rockbridge should be competitive in all the Valley District games. I wouldnt be overly surprised if they finish 1 or 2 in the district if they can sharpen a few things up and stay healthy. As far as what they'll do in the postseason, I'm not familiar enough with 3a this year to give much insight on that.
As far as our schedule, you could probably throw Luray and even Wilson in there too. Luray has put together a couple nice victories and Wilson plays us really tough usually. District play will be a battle just about every week, which is the way it should be. Just next week there are going to be 3 game of the week caliber games on the schedule with Luray/BG, ER/Lee, Riverheads/Draft.
Great game by Lee. I really like what Coach G is doing there. Lots of athletes and they are starting to see some success within that system so I believe the sky is the limit for them. Gonna be an interesting district this year with several teams that are capable of ending up on top. Good luck except against the Red team from G-ville, lol.
Good start to the season for Lee. As noted by others, the Shenandoah District is tough with several good teams. The winner of Riverheads vs Stuarts Draft next week will be in the driver's seat in my opinion. I'll predict Riverheads will get revenge and then probably run the table. The Gladiators just reload and keep on winning!
I don't think it's that simple this year @85straight. Way too much depth across the district to just go with those two.
Riverheads is replacing the entire backfield except the FB, and Draft lost a good bit of offensive talent if I am not mistaken as well. Every year teams start over to a certain extent and all the things that makes a team special has to come together again to be successful.
As some have mentioned there are the very solid Buffalo Gap, Lee, East Rock, and Luray teams that will be right in the mix. My sleeper to surprise a team or two is Page and potentially have a hand in help decide who takes the crown by upsetting a favorite somewhere down the road.
Lots of good football being played around the area so anyone that gets a chance, come check it out. Visitors are always welcome.

I completely agree. While we all want our teams to be the best and win district and further, every year is a new year and with all the contenders this year, it most likely wont be decided until late. Just because the top 2 last year play this Friday, doesn't mean they will certainly be top 2 this year. Gap has a lot back, as does Luray, ER seems to have reloaded, and Lee is playing much better this year. I think the bottom 3 are Page, Wilson, and Stonewall and any of the top 5 can be interchanged, especially at this point in season
Wilson's week 1 results were surprising to me. I felt like they could be a team that had the chance to be in at least the top half of the district, but after seeing their result vs Waynesboro, it makes me wonder if I was off base with them in the preseason or if they just had a bad opening night. Right now though, I agree with Gunz
Can East Rock play with Lee? What are your opinions? I know these two didn't meet last year, but I watched both of them play the last 2 game against each other. A few year ago, East Rock got Lee in a nailbiter in the playoffs, and 2 years ago, Lee just smashed them. I'm glad they are playing in regular season.
No certainty stated, just a early season prediction. If Riverheads wins by 1, 10, 25, or 50, a win is a win. Yes this is a new season, but I think in the end Riverheads and Stuarts Draft will be at the top again. Again, not saying certainly, just my humble prediction.

I certainly hope Stuart's Draft is on top again. But what I was saying is that more than likely won't know until end of season. Stuarts Draft and Riverheads, Luray and Buffalo Gap, and East Rock and Lee are the games this week. Let's just say for example Stuarts Draft, Buffalo Gap, and Lee win. SD and Lee dont play until last game regular season. So it may very well be last week before we know. Just imagine the playoff situation in Shenandoah district if all of them are going to be good
No offense taken. In fact, just the opposite. I hope I am wrong and you are right, and Lee is the best 2A team in the Shenandoah. I would love to see them make it deep in the postseason. I don't think it will happen, but as a Lee grad/fan I sure hope it does!
I understand. No doubt there will be some good, close games this season in the Shenandoah. I just think Riverheads will win the close ones and finish on top. Last season Draft got them, but I think the Gladiators will win a close one this season. Who knows, it could come down to injuries. I know Lee is not all that deep, but maybe they stay healthy and finish as the top 2A team in the district. Lee has talent and I like the new coach.
