I think Patriot is going to eliminate the mistakes they made in the first matchup and beat Westfield.....

South Lakes didn't play much of a schedule this year, and the one good team they played against, they lost to. I think Madison wins.

I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the road teams win in the North.

I don't know if you can call Thomas Dale an upset if they beat Manchester. This is a team with a stable of backs in the Wing-T. Their defense is menacing and it will be interesting to see if they can disrupt a high scoring Manchester team.

Keep in mind, Dale's only two losses are to Dinwiddie(11-0) and one of the favorites if not the favorite to win Class 4 and Hermitage(10-1) and a team who too is a contender to win a state title.

This might be the best game to go to Friday night in the 804.

RE: James Madison @ South Lakes. Per TheDeathPenalty's comment, South Lake's loss was Centreville, a common opponent...another write up says that they held Seahawk RB Spencer Alston to 58 yards and that they scored 17 points in the second half.

Madison played Centreville the last two weeks, lost the first game 31-7, the score was 10-7 at half and the Warhawks had three mistakes directly result in Wildcat touchdowns...second game, again evenly matched (really, the Madison team that played Westfield to a 10-6 loss)...just that the Warhawks had the ball at the end of the game with a "Wow" 4th and 5, 30 yard touchdown pass.

I don't know much about South Lakes this year outside of Alston, they have some speed, but gather their QB is pretty good (Q: is Mensah injured?). Madison is very quick to the ball and hard hitting on defense with a very well coached O-line. It will be an interesting game to be sure and will really come down to which team's conditioning is better.

P.S. *Madison will be without their #1 running back Casey Koshuta who reinjured his knee in the first Madison/Cville game...didn't slow them down much with Jr. Brandon Walker in the backfield.

P.P.S. I don't make picks for teams I support...recovering Cubs fan...

Question...What's the story w/ Lake Braddock? They opened the year w/ three losses and it sounded like the apocalypse was being visited upon them w/ the change in staff, then they reeled off a bunch wins. Are they really good, or no?

Down here in 6A Region A, this area seems wide open this year. Woodside even has a chance against Landstown. The Wolverines run the Wing T & not many of the Beach schools run it and those who do, don't match Woodside's effeciency.

Beyond the 1 vs 4 matchup, any of the other 3 will represent the area well against the B Region.

So you think Smith dont have a chance against Ocean Lakes, and they gonna get blown out at the sportsplex?

aub3, welcome to VAPREPS!

Smith vs Ocean Lakes should be pretty much like last week's game vs Cox. Back and forth momentum swings with the team that keeps fighting until the final whistle being the Victor.

Hopefully it'll be a full house at the SportsPlex. This game should be another epic battle royal between 2 storied programs over the last decade or so!

No clear favorite in the Top 3 of 6A Region A (South).

Glad to see the Dolphins back & challenging for a regional crown again.

I believe Dale is gonna win this one. They've been playing great football and I think their defense is gonna be pretty tough on Manchester.

Yeah...so...

Didn't see this coming...

James Madison came out flat on both sides of the ball and got stepped on by South Lakes 35-0...Couldn't stop the Seahawks offense and their gimmicky (but effective) quick snap, and had a bunch 3 and outs on offense.

Yeah, SL just destroyed Madison. Killer was when Madison came up empty after a nine-minute drive in the second quarter.
