Is Mathews VB down recently or is the #5 seeding just the result of wacky covid stuff? They’ve always been a very strong VB program.

Yes indeed. Mathews was the powerhouse Region A Volleyball program for like a decade or so until 2019 (pre-Covid) season.

Last full season before the Covid lockdowns began, Rappahannock and Middlesex emerged as the new, current powers of Region A. They split matches in the regular season and the Raiders won in a 3-2 thriller in the Region A title game.

Mathews was down again this year but still competitive.

Middlesex and Rappahannock dominated again. I am about to address that situation now and call out Middlesex for their lack of sportsmanship and ethics.
