In what was a much closer game than the score would show, Rye Cove loses their first game of the season to 2A Lee High. The story of the night was Grayson Huff for Lee High. It seemed as if every time this young man touched the ball the jets were turned on and holes you could drive a Mack truck through opened up in the defense of Rye Cove. Huff had 147 yards unofficially and it seemed there was no stopping him defensively. The offensive killer for Rye Cove was interceptions. Rye Cove had three interceptions, two of which ended up being a pick 6 for Lee High. Rye Cove moved the ball well getting deep in Lee High territory before turning it over multiple times. Payton Darnell led Rye Cove again with 75 yards rushing unofficially with Will Rollins also looking good with 65 yards rushing and a touchdown. The big play of the night for the Eagles was brought courtesy of a 72 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Darnell. Rye Cove will be back in action Friday night in Rye Cove against winless Eastside to hopefully right the ship after this loss.
