Ramsey was suspended for the 1st qtr.Anyone know the status of Kionte Burnette? He was on crutches with ice on his left knee for most, if not all of the second half.
As far as the game goes, I thought Salem's defense played well. HV came in averaging 31 points per game, and had scored 106 total the past two weeks. I was surprised at the success HV had running the ball. It almost seemed as if Salem was unprepared for number 31 - Bennett, I believe? He was effective at times, and HV had a few good drives that fizzled down deep, as Salem's D stiffened in the red zone. If HV's qb had been more accurate with his throws, things might have been more interesting.
Salem looked pretty good on offense as well, although it took the Spartans a quarter to get in gear. The holding penalties remain a big bugaboo.
Really not a whole lot of dissecting to do with this one. Salem got a good solid victory, as expected, over an over-matched Hidden Valley. HV offered more resistance than they did last year, but it would have been almost impossible for them not to. The Spartans just need to keep working to improve week by week, and iron out all the penalties. Here's hoping Burnette's injury isn't too serious.
The score probably would have matched last year if Ramsey was in there the first quarter. Salem ran about 40 plays for an effortless 500 yards and 7 TDs(had a great pick six) while HV ran nearly 80 plays for 300 yards and a FG. Not sure what the single game record for rushing is at Salem but it probably would have been in danger tonight if Ramsey(10 carries for 205 and 3 TDs) was there from the get go. The running game was going so well you could have picked any of about 6 guys tonight and they'd have run for 200 yards on 15-20 carries or less. It just worked tonight for them on offense and HV had no answer.
HV showed improvement from last year but for 20 returning starters you'd expect more. Their WR is good for a possession guy but he never once threatened the endzone and the RB had success(he's speedy) but 155 yards on 36 carries aren't great numbers, especially when you consider nearly half came on one run.
The refs were unbelievably bad and not really from a flag standpoint, although some Salem fans might disagree more fervently. They had some awful calls(that strip by Ramsey being one) and despite the fact that Salem led 35-0 during the 3rd it took Coach Mags yelling at them for minutes to get them to start the running clock and even then the operator seemed to randomly pick and choose when to apply the rule.
It was just a weird game. Salem played fairly well but had some issues but atrocious reffing killed a lot of fun tonight.
Spartan, I am a little concerned about something similar. If Dinwiddie makes the playoffs I have tickets for the VA Tech v. Notre Dame game on 11/19/16. Might have to drive all night to South Bend or will sell my tickets if we make it. Havent missed a game in 15 years. Not going to start now.Salem's single-game rushing record was set by Marcus Parker in the 1991 regional semis against Tunstall. Parker racked up 366 yards; don't know on how many carries. Until I chose not to tackle the hassle at JF last year, that was the only Salem playoff game I'd ever missed. I was at the Notre Dame - Penn State game at PSU - both were ranked in the top ten at the time.

I think his parents said he was going to be fine. I couldn't quite hear what his parents were saying last night. I know the family so I'm going to try and find out more. When they talked with the Doctor last night everyone seemed up-beat, so I'll take that as a good sign.Anyone know the status of Kionte Burnette? It's only a one man gyro-copter, that can't be flown at night.Borrow DP's private helicopter. Problem solved!

Ah, but higher than I thought. Still, I think Ramsey would have crested 300 easily tonight if things were a bit different.
