Both teams moved the ball. Brookville got wide early but Salem eventually shut that down. Brookville threw ball well. Salem did not. Lots of work needed on passing game. Inside running game still good. Best player on field Logan did not touch the ball. That can't happen when it matters. All tailbacks looked good with lots of potential, but none run as tough or as hard as Woods did last year.
Right now Salem good, not great. But one of the best things Salem does ( maybe better than anyone else) is get better as season progresses

Salem regular season opponent Martinsburg, WV vs 6A Massaponax last night in Martinsburg. Martinsburg ran riot over Massaponax 56-7. Massaponax scores on their 1st drive but after that it was all Martinsburg using the running game to set up the passing game. Martinsburg getting fine tuned for the season opener at 2021 4 A State Champion Salem Spartans.

That’s insane. Ponax is 5A now but still one of the better programs in the state. As long as you all beat the hell out of the Springers this year, I’ll be happy.

If HSHS overlooks Martinsburg they will be in for a very rude awakening...Believe that!!! Martinsburg will not be intimidated playing at HSHS.

HS doesn’t look good. Told them on the 5A board, they’d be 7-3 at best.. Guess they don’t believe fire burns 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't see Salem being able to handle Martinsburg. Would have been much better last year. Salem will take some time to replace 11 starters---especially the heart and soul of the team Zavione Woods. Barring injuries I think Salem will be good at end of season. However, I look for them to struggle early.

Ponax lost quite abit from last years team or last springs team. Lots of holes to fill, but they usually load up instead of rebuild. However, this might be weakest team in last 8-10 years due to the heavy graduation losses.

I was lucky enough to travel to both JV scrimmages (no joke). They have some big 9th graders 3 220 plus lineman. TEs 82 and 41 are good. 15 at qb is solid. RB and Wr have been a rotation. Defense is finding its way and getting used to lining up to different fronts. Spartan JV should be just fine. Interested to hear about other teams Jayvees.

At the Salem Magna benefit game, Salem fixed their passing game!! Defense looks a lot better. Salem just has to keep improving as we go. The qb looks great tonight!!

Salem definitely looked better, but I wasn't impressed with Magna Vista at all. Spartans still have a lot to work on. They have some potential for sure.

Anyone got jersey #s? Specifically looking for offensive backfield #s. Thanks.

Do you know when Peyton Lewis will be back?

I'd like to see them go heavy with Leftwich and Allen in the backfield
I think you'll probably see that some this year. I've been looking forward to that potential combo since seeing Allen run the ball in JV last year. He's versatile and can do some damage from the TE position as well.

I hope so. You have Cam pounding it up the middle and then bring in a 6'2" 222 lb 15/16 yr old man/child to pound it followed by Peyton flying by you. Lot of options running the ball because you know whichever corner covering Duece is going to have help over the top on that side.

Salem's going to have a very fun backfield for the next three seasons. Need all the other pieces, obviously, but that backfield looks absolutely loaded.
