Okay this is the final segment of Salem vs. Dinwiddie key points. When I think about the 2016, the key matchup was the Salem db's vs. The Dinwiddie receivers. Wow, how things have changed. This year the roles may be reversed.

Quarterbacks:

Gladden: 15-24 for 430, 3 td's and 1 int.
Pope: 12-23 for 164, 2 td's and 1 int.

Both teams lack an experienced starting qb and neither Pope or Gladden's style resemble their predecessors. Witt was a game manager, pocket passer with precise accuracy. Pope is scrambler with a gun slinger mentality. Beckley was a playmaker extroidinare who could hurt defenses with his legs and arm. Gladden is a good size kid, who stays in the pocket and utilizes his weapons well.

Both Pope and Gladden have struggled at times with accuracy; however, Galdden had a whale of a night against Amherst and Pope has used his legs to excel.

Both of these guys can beat you they just do it differently. Even

Receivers:

Tucker: 5 catches for 231 yards and 2 tds.
J. Williams 3 catches for 60 yards, 0 tds.

Salem's very experienced receiving corps is led by the speedy Tucker. This young man continues to awe fans and defenders. He can turn a tunnel screen into a big gain or beat you deep. Posession receivers Quinn, Wade and Close are always options.

Dinwiddie's receiving corp is very young, but are a very speedy unit. Ka'Vaughan Pope is the leader of this unit, but generally plays sparingly on offense. J. Williams is the big play guy and T. Hawkins has averaged 21 yards a catch.

Due to their experience, Tuckers playmaking ability and precise route running Salem gets the big nod at WR.

Defensive backs:

Just like Salems receivers their defensive backs (virtually the same guys) bring experience, pass coverage IQ, and sound tackling. Tucker and Owen play the corners well and Wade is a hard hitting safety. Dinwiddie offers speed and man to man coverage. This group has already accrued 4 interceptions, but has been beaten 3 times for passes over 50 yards. They are young and make a few mistakes, but that is to be expected with man to man coverage. Luccess, Barlow and Williams lead this group.

Once again Salems experience is the key; however, with Dinwiddie running the ball a majority of the time the Spartans db's may get caught napping. Dinwiddie must decide whether to press Tucker or lay off. Since the General db's tackle well the latter may be the best option. Slight edge to Salem.

As you can tell Dinwiddie is young and Salem is experienced. Both teams have highly touted players with good speed; however, speed will not likely win this game. The power game will be at a premium tomorrow night. Anybody that follows Class 4 football is fully aware of who this favors; however, the Generals may have a huge surprise in store for the Spartans. Can Dinwiddie play Salem's game and win or will the Spartans utilize home field advantage and send Dinwiddie home disappointed again.

In 17 hours we will have the answer. Good luck to both teams. Hope the posters enjoyed my three unbiased post.

Never thought I would hve said this but...
Key is Dinwiddie power run game vs the Salem passing attack. I expect Salem to hit a few sneaky passes in for big yardage. But, KP is the best player in the field.

Dinwiddie 28 - Salem 24

Good luck to both teams and safe travels to the Dinwiddie faithful!
