Did anyone make any of the scrimmages this week as I was out of town.. Herm vs Man... GA vs Freeman.. etc..???

How did the Springers look?? The only thing I heard was that TD didn't look that good.... Set me straight

Start of scrimmage
0-0 10 play each starters

21-0 HSHS 2nd and 3rd teams

Game situation starters (first 25 minutes/running clock) (7-6 TD)

TD scored - 17 play 80 yard 19 minute drive
HSHS - 1 play 80 yd pass

Game situation back-ups (second 25 minutes/running clock) (7-0 HSHS)
HSHS - 5 yd td run

You can draw/or what you heard from this, but it was a scrimmage. I know I would feel pretty good about playing HSHS starters even when they are ranked in 5A and this was there second scrimmage. I do know years past that TD came into scrimmages calling plays as to what was happening during the scrimmage. They had all plays scripted for each segment and never went away from it, no matter what down or distance.

On a side note about HSHS, #4 is quick, #5 on defense is a beast, and they will lose a game by an extra point. No kicker at all (barely made it over the line). HSHS looks ok, they didnt really impress me. I was expecting a better looking team since they are ranked in 5A

HSHS is not ranked in the 5A top Ten on VaPreps.... Are they ranked somewhere else?
On another side note. They did hold there own against #6 North Stafford. Each team scored once but HS's defense looked better. Controlled scrimmage all the way.
We will see what Highland Springs really has next Friday night against 6A's #6 team Colonial Forge at HSHS in regular season opener.

Varina and Meadowbrook scrimmage at Varina HS Thursday evening @ 6:00 pm! I'll be there, how 'bout you? I want to see what both these teams have!! HSHS plays Meadowbrook in week #3. Then, of course, the Finale Showdown between HSHS/VARINA in week #10!
Me and my posse will be checkin' it out on the 50 yd. line!

I heard Varina distroyed Deep Run last week... I haven't heard a peep about Hermitage.

Ocean Lakes impressed the heck out of me last week. Their running back, #1 Jaason ???, is a prime time player. And their quarterback was so polished, he looked like a pro out there. The team walked by me going in, in just tee shirts on their upper body. Every one of them were ripped. No question they have been hitting the weights.

Hey 2foot, just an update since you asked about Hermitage. Their first scrimmage was against Manchester. Final was 26-3 Hermitage. Another poster had mentioned that they scrimmage Ocean Lakes tonight at Hermitage. That info is correct. I'll be there and post the results this evening.

Ocean Lakes 22 - Hermitage 14. Herm was up 14-0 when their starters left the game. Score was that way til very late in the 3rd quarter. Fairly sloppy game. Ocean Lakes had 4 turnovers and Herm had 1 or 2. Quite a few penalties both ways, Herm had one that negated a 20+ yard touchdown run. Both had a couple defensive penalties on 3rd downs that extended the other teams drive. Play calling both ways (as expected I suppose) was pretty generic. Not too much to say, it is just a glorified practice after all. I think both sides got something out of it. Both teams are good and should be a tough out for anyone they play.

Good to know!!
I saw the Varina/MBK scrimmage yesterday. In a nut shell (for me), both teams couldn't do much on offense in the first 3 qtrs. Very generic play calling (mostly run oriented), even though MBK threw more. Score was 3-0 through 3 quarters. Both teams seemed to find themselves offensively in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. Varina's defensive line looks pretty good. MBK looks like they still have a long way to go on both sides.
MBK opens the season with 3 very tough opponents and I would'nt be surprised is they start the season 0-3.
Varina's fresh new field is loose, slippery and not friendly for traction!! It seems as though the sod hasnt taken root!! Wear cleats with some teeth if your teams have to play over there!!

Did MBK try to start any fights this time or did they actually come to play football?

Of course there were no fights

Varina is a real football team that's not soft. You just embarrass the Louisa program with every post you make. I like your write up about Louisa/Goochland. Goochland's starters crushed Lousa, up 23-6 at halftime. Backups played the second half and Louisa ended up winning 33-23. So, of course his game report says Louisa 33- Goochland 23. It's that type of soft, little league thinking that has him whining about MBK during the scrimmage. Louisa's coach didn't like that MBK's coaches wouldn't go soft, so he ended the scrimmage early. Louisa was once a strong program. However, they've gone 3-7 and 4-6 in the past two years. Unfortunately, it would appear that HoosFan05 is symbolic of the softness that now appears to be the programs trademark. Hey, HoosFan05, stop confusing being soft with having class. Two strong programs with great history and toughness scrimmaged this past week- MBK and Varina. No one whined, and no one ended it early. Let's see where MBK and Varina are at the end of the year versus Louisa.

Stop embarrassing yourself and the Louisa program. I suspect your softness doesn't really speak for them

Re: Of course there were no fights

LOL you mad? You call 23-6 "crushing"? LMAO. By the way Coach Fischer wasn't at Louisa the past 3 years. Oh and by the way Goochland would stomp MBK in a real game this year. Louisa would too. They beat themselves in that scrimmage. Try to schedule us if you ain't afraid to lose to a lowly so-called "soft" program that plays football instead of wrestle. Then after the game you can see me Mr. Internet thug.

The clown returns

Yes, I call 23-6 AT THE HALF a crushing. At that pace, it's a 46-12 game. So, Louisa would stomp MBK? Everyone who saw the scrimmage said that both Louisa and Tucker weren't even close to the same level as MBK and couldn't move the ball. Try to schedule you? There is no value in scheduling a D4 school. I'm not knocking D4- there are some REAL programs in D4 right now (Pheobus, Dinwiddie to name a couple). Dinwiddie is already on the schedule. Louisa would be lucky to go 2-8 with MBK's schedule- maybe 1-9.

Your soft. That's fine- it's who you are, and there's a place for soft people in this world. But, stop embarrassing Louisa's program with your softness. Your 3-7 and 4-6 seasons only stand out when you come on here whining about the Lousia/MBK scrimmage. I love when little boys step up to men and say "I can take you!!!!"

Now, stop your whining and man up- the season is upon us.

Re: The clown returns

MBK I agree with you JR Tucker and Louisa were not at the same level as MBK. Enough said! We are a D4 program that has work to be done and we are working as hard as anybody else is and harder then some. We found out that our 2's want to play on Friday night as do the 1's. No excuses here but it is a scrimmage we did not punt 4 and 16 on the 22 you see what you got in a game you punt. Just the facts we did learn from the Tucker/MBK scrimmage as we did from Goochland. scrimmages are about getting better not winning. Reach out to my friend Hoosfan lets look at Spotsy and leave this post were it is....
Good Luck this year MBK.......

I had a buddy at the Herm vs OLakes scrim, He said the Herm 1st team Defense played lights out. Herm was up 14-0 when they put in the 2s and 3s. I was at the Varina/MBK scrim and wasnt overly impressed with either team. Both teams seem to be seaching on offense.

Louisadad

My comments are meant ENTIRELY for HoosFan05 and his silliness about the scrimmage last week. I really don't know much about Louisa. It looks like it has been a tough couple of years. But, you've gotten a tried and true coach back who had a lot of success with the program. Hopefully he can get it back to where it was.

2foot, traditionally MBK doesn't show much offensively in scrimmages. Their pre-season offensive look is rarely what you see when the season starts. They are very aware of scouts in the stands.

Re: Louisadad

I knew that, I was at the scrimmage as well and on the field I walked off the field with our team and held our heads high. I will not speak neg of anyone or team here on preps. But I will tell you this we are not soft and we our PROUD!!
The season starts NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fair enough

You might want to distance soft fans like this Hoos character from the program. He just embarrasses you folks.

Guess we'll see this week, 2foot

MBK opens at Herm on Friday, then they play Manchester next week, and follow that with Highland Springs. As far as MBK and Varina, I wasn't there. From what I hear both defenses shut down the offenses for more than three quarters. But, as I said, MBK in pre-season doesn't so much search for offense- they tend to keep it under wraps. They typically run a pretty basic offense in scrimmages so as not to show too much to those who may be scouting them.

School must be out

The clown has come back to post. Seriously, just stop embarrassing the Louisa program. You're soft, and your whining makes them look soft. Given past performance, I realize you just might up and quit if I push you too hard. So, let me check, you doing ok, buddy? I haven't hurt your feelings, have I? I'd hate for you to quit because I was hitting too hard- apparently that must be a Louisa trademark.

Re: School must be out

I talked to 2 coaches that were at the Louisa/MBA scrimmage and was told by them that mbk players and coaches were out of line. That being said, it's over, it was a scrimmage, and emotions tend to run high in those early scrimmages when coaches are on the field and sometimes an few subs.... It's over and I think hoos and gombk are both ridiculous for not ending the childish banter. you're soft, no you're classless, I said you were soft first, no you're classless, I'm rubber you're glue, my dad can beat up your dad.....

Re: Guess we'll see this week, 2foot

Take a chill pill GoMBK.... You make it seem as if I'm pulling for a certain team.. No like that. I only go by what I saw. I thought MBK did very well when I saw them at UofR, then they come out in the power running game. Just surprised me when I saw them. I hope they do well and I'm sure it will be a barn burner on Friday. I'm going to do my best to be there. Good Luck to all...

Re: School must be out

He's a former player and still, from my perspective, just a kid. Pushing his buttons for fun is no longer necessary.

I understand your reason but I'd appreciate it if you just let this one go.

Re: Guess we'll see this week, 2foot

Take a chill pill? Geez, what is it with you people What did I say that made you beleive I thought you were pulling for a certain team? I simply said we'll see soon enough because MBK has a killer first three games, and that they typically don't show too much on offense in their scrimmages. That offended you somehow? I suspect you might have gotten caught in the crosshairs of my back and forth with our Hoos buddy. I'm done with that- he's a good fan and he's going to take a good fan's perspective. I can respect that.

Re: Fair enough, shauntclair

Thanks and respect. You've earned it and I owe you one.
