Seeding for regionals?

Does anyone know how the seeding for regionals will be? I'm assuming by win percentage? It's tough though being that there are teams out there that by the end of the regular season will only play 3 or 4 games while other teams have played 12 or 13 games. What's everyone's opinion that teams playing only a few games get in? I kind of think that you should have to play at least 6 or 7 games to be eligible for the tournament.

I think I have read somewhere that the NCAA has a minimum number of games rule in place for participation in March Madness, so it stands to reason that the VHSL might have a similar rule. Definitely a difficult situation to sort through but I guess we have to hope that they have analyzed it carefully and more importantly, let's hope and pray that things will be back to normal by this time next year.

There is no set #, it’s up to each District and VHSL did not put a number on it. I agree that it should be, my reasoning is you have teams that were playing and kids taking a chance of injury or being exposed to Covid while others were simply practicing. I think you should have played “some” games more than two or three, sadly we have some in the Pioneer that played NO District games, yet they “qualify” for the tournament

Yeah I'm with ya. There's teams out there they played a the full schedule that they were allowed to play and there are some schools who didn't start playing games until last week. I just feel there should be a minimum amount of games played to qualify. I'm not trying to be mean about it, I just feel that's they way it should be.

Power points or at least SOMETHING still exists in Region 1-B because I just checked and my Riverheads boys are number one and the girls are number two. But I agree with all of your points...the system is not going to be equitable this year any way you slice it.

There's no real fair way to decide the seeding. Teams like WP and Mathews had to shut down (Mathews for 1 week & WP for 2 weeks). Northumberland and Rapp just started playing and might get a total of 4 or 5 games. I say chalk it up to a Covid year and just deal with whatever each region decides to come up with because everyone will have an argument why something is or isn't fair to them.

On a side note I watched some games this weekend on NFHS, both live and taped. Altavista looks like the best team in Region B. I've watched Auburn and PM and PM looks better right now but Auburn having to play BBurg and CBurg out of the gate is tough. Region D looks like it has more balanced teams but no clear front runner. I've got to watch Grundy, Twin Springs, and JI Burton. I haven't seen Eastside but heard they might battle it out in Region D. WP was really hitting a groove and I would have to say the clear best team in Region A but with 2 weeks off and 0 practices before the region I don't know what to predict. If I had to pick right now - I like PM and Altavista meeting in the state championship - Cartolaro vs his old school would be a nice story.

I thought I read somewhere that you had to play 6 games to be eligible. Guess that isn't the case though because the Valley District (3A) is playing a district tournament to determine their regional teams. Ultimately it is up to the districts and regions to determine who goes.
