Skyline 19 Millbrook 19 Half

That's surprising Millbrook needs to win these last two games to clinch conference number one seed. Are they in foul trouble or having a bad night shooting?

Re: Millbrook 51 Skyline 37 F

It was still a close game at the end of 3, 33-29. But midway through the 4th quarter Brenna Cook nailed a couple of threes that the Hawks could just not recover from. Shayne Clifton hae 11 for Skyline and chased Lauren Reed around all night on defense. Jenny Norman added 12 for the Hawks. Millbrook was ler by Brenna Cook with 15, Lauren Reed with 14 and Joneisha Cain with 12. Skyline beat Handley and James Wood and was up on Sherando late the other night. People need to bring their A game when they play Skyline, and Millbrook eventually found it.

Re: Millbrook 51 Skyline 37 F

All I've got to say is it's good to see these seniors playing with a little more effort here at the end of their careers. They gave Millbrook a game tonight, almost upset Sherando the other night, and got Handley back a week after they got owned on their own floor by the Judges. All of these seniors have the ability to do this for more than one game at a time. I hear they're playing Warren County on Monday. I'd really like to see the Hawks soar in that one.

As far as the Hungergames chick, won't Loudoun County be the No. 1 seed in C21? I know I could be wrong with that. Anyone that knows, feel free to share. I know Millbrook has only three losses. I've heard there is some kind of crazy point system in place, which really favors the Dulles schools who play 4A and 5A schools.

Anyway, good job for Coach Barr. He'll have all the key girls back next season but Cook.

And while we're at it, how about Loudoun Valley beating Woodgrove last week? Really!!!!!!!!

Re: Millbrook 51 Skyline 37 F

Conference 21 doesn't use a points system. Seeding is based on how you finish in your district with Dulles 1 on one side of the 8 team bracket and NW 1 on the other side of the bracket (full match ups below). Games are all at higher seeds. If two teams with the same seeding meet, the home team is based on a series of tie breakers with the first being winning percentage in district games. Assuming Millbrook beats Skyline tonight, they would be undefeated in their district. Since Loudoun County lost a district game to Woodgrove, a theoretical conference championship game between the two number one seeds from their respective districts would be at Millbrook.

I was at the first half of the Valley / Woodgrove game last week. The Valley gym was completely packed with Valley fans who were really into the game. Valley is a much improved team this year with a 14 - 6 record (with 3 of those losses coming to County and Woodgrove). VirginiaPreps had them ranked in the top 10 in 3A in their most recent poll from a couple of weeks ago. I would imagine they will make it out of Conference 28 into the regional round.

Here's what I think the Conference 21 match ups will look like...

Top of the bracket
Millbrook (NW 1) vs Dominion (Dulles 4)
Woodgrove (Dulles 2) vs James Wood (NW 3)

Bottom of the bracket
Loudoun County (Dulles 1) vs Park View (Dulles 5)
Sherando (NW 2) vs Heritage (Dulles 3)

Points system

Yeah, I would imagine there's different setups through lots of conferences throughout the state. Really hard to keep up with, obviously. I just know that system (points) is used by 3A Conference 28, which includes Loudoun Valley and Champe from the Dulles. One team in that conference (William Monroe) did not play some of the other C28 teams, but everyone else at least had a head to head. The points system must not have helped Champe all that much, because I hear the Knights will be a third seed, even though they crushed (proposed No. 2 seed) Central-Woodstock in their only meeting. I really think head-to-head should have had some merit, but I guess that doesn't hold water in C28.

I was shocked that Valley beat Woodgrove, but I'm also going to pass along credit to the Vikings coach and his players. They have come a looooooooooooong way in just two years. Remember that 0-20 they posted two years ago? Same coach and same players, still around. Kudos for making such marked improvement in short time. If you had told someone that Valley would beat Woodgrove before this season, they would have thought you were stoned!

So, from what I'm hearing, C28 tournament (Who knows when it will start due to the ongoing winter crap being a spoiler)
will stack up like this:

QF: No. 6 William Monroe at No. 3 Champe
No. 5 Skyline at No. 4 Warren County

SF: No. 6/No. 3 winner (likely Champe) at No. 2 Central-Woodstock
No. 5/No. 4 winner (I'm feelin' Skyline here) at No. 1 Loudoun Valley

Final: Prediction, Champe at Valley (all Dulles final)

Loudoun Valley

Valley is a good team and as you said has come a long way. They will finish 3rd in the Dulles District behind Loudoun County and Woodgrove. Their six losses to date (still have one more game with Heritage tomorrow) were to:

Loudoun County (2 times)
Woodgrove
Freedom by 2 (will be the number 1 seed in 5A Conference 14)
Martinsburg, WV by 2 points (who beat Sherando by a fair margin)
Champe by 4 (who beat Millbrook in the Christmas tournament)

While I think everyone would call their win over Woodgrove an upset (since it was the first time Valley had ever beat Woodgrove), I don't think you should be shocked that Woodgrove lost to them. The core of their team were either in 8th or 9th grade during their low point two years ago. They'll likely be even better next season as they are mostly sophomores and juniors this year and their coach has them energized and believing in themselves.

Re: Loudoun Valley

OK, I thought they had some of the same players from two years ago but good for them for building through youth.

I like the coach from Valley's style. If he's getting the kids to believe, they are going to be pretty good for years to come.

Again, good job Lady Vikes. Don't let Dawson steal all the thunder! LOL!!!!!!!

Re: Points system

Are those matchups as of last night? I had heard that Champe has a game tonight and if they win or it gets cancelled altogether that they jump Central and move to number 2.
