Skyline broke away in the third quarter and coasted to a 71-56 victory over William Monroe on Friday night in Front Royal.
The score was even for most of the first half, with the Hawks trailing the Dragons by 1 at the end of the first quarter, and then taking a 5 point lead at the half, 31-26.
Zack Diggs had 11 first half points for the Hawks and Tucker Shifflett had 11 for the Dragons.
Skyline outscored William Monroe 24-8 in the third quarter to bust the game open. Elias Carter and Ethan Caperton joined Diggs in the scoring load, with Carter finishing the game with 12 points and Caperton tallying 15. Diggs was the overall leading scorer with 20 points. Carter added 12 rebounds.
The regional tournament should be a lot of fun as William Monroe, Skyline and Manassas Park are all capable of beating each other.
